Gold at a Regional!!!!!!
Posted by viper_mp on Saturday, May 17, 2008 10:46 PM

Oh yeah, I am on cloud nine.  I managed to win gold at the Regionals in Omaha this weekend.  And it was so unexpected....I wasnt even in the room to accept the trophy.  I had entered a lot of aircraft, and after coming up empty in all categories, I went to use the restroom and talk with people in the vendor room.  And what happens....I win gold in the Sci-Fi figures category with my Ambassador Spock.  I really didnt think I would even place with bronze.  But I am happy as a pig in mud.  now I guess I need to finish some of my other figures.

Thanks guys.  Yeah, it blew my mind.  I took some great models, IMO, and the competition was some of the best I've ever seen. [note- I have yet to attend nationals].  I took 9 models: 1- helo, 2-figs, and 6- planes. They went through the planes....nothing.  And they were in the armor, so I went to get a drink and started talking with ppl in the halls.  By the time I got back in, our new club president handed me a trophy, shook my hand and told me Spock won.  i was stunned.  And the sad part is [and I had totally forgot until searching for the pics], I took the same spock model to Omacon last year, and only got silver! But from all the competition there, I now know what I need to do to have a snowball's chance in h*ll of scoring even a third at nationals.  WOW!!!  Some of that stuff was insane.

BTW-, incase you cant tell, it was my first regional competition.  I only started going to contests last year.
