How to Paint Citadel Miniatures (Book)
Posted by David Voss on Wednesday, November 5, 2003 12:38 PM
Has anyone picked up this book or had a chance to look through it?

How to Paint Citadel Miniatures

I'm thinking about picking up a copy of this. It looks like it would be a good reference. I was wondering what anyone thought about the book.

A couple years ago, I found a copy of the 1993 Warhammer painting guide at Half-Price Books. I pulled it off the shelf and looked through it last night. Comparing the recent White Dwarf painting articles against that book, it's amazing how far they've come. Wow! Smile [:)]

Dave,
The book you posted is pretty good. It's basically a collection of alot of the articles they've done in White Dwarf and the Codex / Army books up to this point. If you don't have the mags or books to refer to, it's a great reference.

My girlfriend just bought that book. Its a great source too. Shes basically using it as a guide since shes a begginer painter, which it seems to help her quite well. She hasnt wanted much of my advice, shes always determined to do things on her own, which is great.

I still use my 'eavy metal painting guide' and 'eavy metal warhammer painting guide'. Both were printed back in 93 and 94 respectively. Not sure if they are still in print or grown into something else.

I have the guide printed in 1993. I took it out the other day to look at it. Comparing the book with the stuff that's been appearing in White Dwarf, there's a noticeable difference. I think it's safe to say they've learned a lot over the past decade. The past issues of White Dwarf have had some excellent painting articles. So I'm very interested in picking up a copy of this new book. It's just the past couple of times I've gone to the LHS, they've been sold out. Not a problem though -- if I wait until the end of the month, they're having a 25% off sale of Games Workshop stuff. Smile [:)]

I picked this up yesterday and I'm very happy with it. I like how they explain different techniques and show pictures demonstrating the techniques.
