Peasants and Gypsies...... ?!
Posted by u-69 on Thursday, July 17, 2008 10:25 AM

Working [read as: 'planning'] a russian front diorama and looking for civilians/peasants/gypsies [1/35]... surprisingly all I've been able to find so far are "refugees" which have a pretty dour look to them. The scene is to be a tank crew at rest for the night with some locals, so the atmosphere needs to be much happier - much drinking, dancing and eating, something like a 1/35 Gypsy caravan would be awesome [note to self; not so awesome to scratch build]

anyone know of such figures?

-regards

Do a search for "civilian" at The Red Lancer and check Doug's Originals at Colorado Mioniatures. The running boy will fit and the North African Woman could be easily converted to a dancing Gypsy Woman.

Now, I've got that song in my head!

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

hi - thanks, great resource, but everyone still looks a little down, looking for 'happy civvies' not refugees, the boys look ok and the african woman would definately work. [if you search for civilian ther are a couple of russian civvies that turn up] lots of animals, good, mmmm beef.... and this one is an exceptional fit [not civvie though] a perfect example of the mood and type I am looking for.

You probably won't find too many "cheerful" figures, but while you're at Colorado Miniatures, check out the heads under Hornet Models. There are several 1/35 sets that have happy expressions.
