I've seen those turbo DC-3s fly, but to me the most astounding thing was the Turbo Great Lakes! It had a beta-pitch prop (reversible while in flight).  At shows the pilot would fly square loops and it was fantastic seeing that thing come down the backside of the loop, hundred feet up, vertical, in reverse pitch and then make an almost square turn to level!

They turboprop a lot of older aircraft these days. Case and point the conversion to the DC-3. "powerful"

Thanks glad you like it....Don, yes Cavalier did some of the work on close air support Mustangs and Piper went on to develop the Piper Enforcer, a turbo prop version of the Mustang!.....Rich

After WW2 there was an effort by a number of conversion businesses to create an updated Mustang for actual combat, as a close air support bird that could capitalize on all the surplus airframes and Merlin engines, but have all-new and more capable avionics.  These were marketed to USAF as well as third world military.  Don't remenber if Cavalier went after that market or not.  Eventually, some came up with turboprop conversions of Mustang.  I think some third world air forces bought a few of these things but the movement really never took off, and US certainly did not buy many, though I think they evaluated a few (though that may have been for assistance to our small country allies as military assistance).

Looks Great ! CoolYes

As long as somebody produces a paper kit, I see no reason to use the AIRFIX Magazine article 1/24 scale drawings to convert my 1/24 AIRFIX plastic Mustang P-51 D .

I just enlarge and build the paper kit ! Big Smile

Here are some pictures of my build of Airdave's Cavalier Mustang. These were used by the U.S. Army as chase planes in the '60's. I enlarged mine to 1/24 (from 1/33) and I think it came out great......Rich
