I don't quite get it - what tabs do you mean? Is the part that will not fit the blue one, on heavier cardboard?

In paper models it's a common problem that a bulkhead doesn't fit - it's usually too large, because the designer often forgets to the thickness of the paper into account. Please remember, that you always have the option to sand the bulkhead down before installing it. I hope it help, or if I don't understand the problem right, please post more photos and I hope we can figure it out together!

The base the sidewalls are sitting on- the piece with the X-brace.  I think I will just cut the tab on the sidewalls- I am afraid to rescribe the base by only a few mil- I am not sure I can scribe that accurately.  I'll try to treat the open seam with something.

Build is under way. It will go a bit slow, as I am also working on a Revell sprint car.

I bent the tabs on the turntable base a little too far to the outside and now it will not fit within walls.  I should have not closed the walls before, and wrapped it around the base before gluing ends :=(

The ink I received was enough to do the printing.  Got the sheets all printed and ready to go- hope to start today.  Pics soon.

No progress yet.  When I went to print the parts, my printer was out of two inks.  I ordered them, but only one has come yet (different Amazon vendors, I guess).  I will install today the one that is here alread, the one I was completely out of, and see if it prints.

Ed, I was mistaken - the kits I have are from 12 Squared.  They were bare bone kits with really “wubbly” moldings and no PE or metal.  If I were to revisit them, I‘d scratchbuild, as it would be an easier starting point.

The Link Trainer always reminded me of those 25 cent kiddie rides in front of the drug store and market.  And yes, I did pester my folks for quarters!  Showing my age here.

I seem to recall a 1/72 injected kit that was advertised in FSM long ago.  I have some of the mfr’s other kits, including a Model 22 Ohka, He-176, and a hydrogen bomb.  The kits were low pressure injection molded and quite rough.

I’m sure your 1/24 rendition will be much better looking!  Please post photos as you go.

 

Interesting fact;  Edwin Link's father was a carousel maker in Binghamton NY.  The younger Link worked the family business for a while the made some "entertainment" rides which morphed into pilot trainers in the 1920's.  He went on to demonstrate their utility by flying to A contract meeting through weather that grounded other competitors.  He was awarded an Army Air Corps contract to provide the training devices. His company went on to train the Army flyers and many Navy flyers during WWII.   The company is still in business as part of the L3-Harris Corporation.  I worked for Link Simulation for 35 years until my retirement.
