Portholes??????? I would have got into soooo much strife when I was in the Australian Navy if I had refered to a scuttle as a 'porthole'. But I appreciate the tip. You're always good value Tanker-Builder!

Aha!

     The Beautiful Shell Welder. Before I get into her, I must note I haven't had a dependable camera it seems for a while. What I seem to do is get one, It works fine then either gets Ripped off, Left Behind or Messes up Internally. So I don't post many Photos , and then in Dribs and drabs.

 I have I think three of the " Welders" One is converted to carry Whisky, one is converted to cary L.N.G. and one is incomplete at this point. The incomplete one is the re-pop out of Russia. Talk about worn out molds!

     Even the Inca Stairs( A typical model ship thing) Are so bad I cut them off! The Wheel house had to be re-made out of sheet Evergreen because the original parts were so badly warped.

     The FROG kit can be fun to build and she doesn't look bad when done. Just make sure to put.010 sheet clear behind the Portholes and Deckhouse windows! Hey,We ain't in the Navy now.Thems is Portholes to the Civvy Wankers!

Any chance of some photos Tanker-Builder? Incidently, I was going through my stash the other day when I saw a kit that reminded me of you. The kit is the old Frog 'Shell Welder'. I think I'll have to have a crack at her in the not to distant future.

Hello everyone;

     As you know I have been working on the M.V.Mellum. A great kit for sure. Now I have to ask. How many of our card models have Laser cut details available for them? That mentioned, I have another tip to share.

    You all know that Plastic and Resin Model Ships require a lot of Photo Etched Brass or Steel sometimes. How about using that same stuff on our Card Models? Why Not? What makes our ships so different that they cannot benefit from this technology?

 I have replaced All the details I could with P.E. Yes, I did get the Laser-Cut detail set. In examining it and starting to use it, I have to say it is a great item to have available. The parts are just as delicate as P.E. Well, maybe more so. I flubbed two inclined Ladders with Rails. ( That's Stairways and Handrails to you landlubbers) because of the delicacy of the part.

    I had some ladders and W/T doors on a P.E fret left-over from a plastic build that I had modified, therefore not needing those parts. They were is the same scale. A little folding Shaping and painting I put those items on the Mellum. Now she actually looks better than the photo of the built model on the cover sheet.

 Think about it. If you can try it, Do so.
