Pawel;

 Thank You Sir!!

 Now! I know what the missing piece was. The whole sheet from-1-whatever. ( I missed the last step number on the printed instructions.) I have gotten past what Dan Cooper showed by figuring out the diagrams on my own. The Bow skin is on both sides as I write this. Took some figuring out though. Stern is being shape glued and prepped now.

 I hope to solve my problem with Flickr and post some pics soon. This is one thing I do like about JSC products. Even without the Printed instructions you can build their products. It just takes a little thinking. The Pictographs get you quite the ways along.Then the rest is thinking and common sense.

     Remember, I got these used I think. Or, I inconviently lost them on my own-it's possible, Sooo.

I'm afraid I don't have anything left from this project T-B, my attempt at this model was about 10 years or so ago, and 5 years ago we relocated to another (nicer) house and during the move a lot of stuff that wouldn't be used was disposed off... including all left-overs from failed and/or destroyed models. I have no experience with JSC's customerservice, but maybe they could help you out ? (If you find someone to translate your question and their answer that is.)

Hi Dan Cooper!

          I have a strange question for you. Do you still by chance have all the instructions for the " Rio"? The reason I ask is this. In my kit there is no diagrams or mention of how to build the hull or where the two cranes locate when it's time to install them. It's like there's a page or two missing.

         Can you help? If you can, message me here in my message box and we maybe can arrange something.

Hi DanCooper;

     I do promise to put them Photos on as soon as I get Stimulated financially! I think everyone is getting sick of all the Writing and no Pics. I intend to remedy that for sure!

    I may even create an Avatar finally! I have started building the cranes and other framed gear. The pipes are going to be easy. I have tons of piping from other projects. I thank My RailRoad parts Gods every time i open that drawer!

      Yes , You guessed it! My Avatar will indicate where I got my screen name.

Hi Dan Cooper.

         That's where I am at right now. The truth is Mine is much " Pinker" than yours. Now that said, You saw what I meant about the way they printed the ladders? I assembled both the helo platform and the gas Burnoff tower the way they would have you do it. Lotta work for something with inside detail you couldn't see at all!

         That's why I chose to go the route I did. Any rail, ladder, tower or device hiding detail when you should be able to see through it to the background has been scratch built at this stage. Except the found stairs of course. She's probably going to make it on here. I haven't been stimulated so her build is going slow so's I can get some of the steps on Camera!

        " Sam" does get on the bench occassionally. Sniffs around, then gets down and disappears for a while. She knows she would gain SuperMan's ability to fly if I caught her there. She doesn't think I know. How do you miss 3/4" long Cat hair in your glue puddle? Besides she stepped in a paint mix the other day. One cat paw print on the Bench and one funny colored cat foot  on the cat, for a while.

Hello T-B, I'm a bit confused by your post to be honest, well my english is a bit rusty of course after the many years that I haven't spent on this forum. But many years ago I have started this kit (till the cat got the better of it that was) and to my knowledge the color wasn't pink but orange.

What I do remember though is that there was some kind of inaccuracy in the length of the box-frame, that was about 2 or 3 mm too long if it wasn't adressed at the start.

Last picture of her before being shredded by the big bad cat :

Pawel:

      As I have indicated when I get the better stimulus I am buying a new Camera I can handle and will do the Job. Then You'll see her in all her glory with all the upgrades I have done so far. There's a lot of stuff that will be hitting here actually. The general Population here will think they unleashed the Photo Monster!

      Oh, by the way.I didn't call you out, I just suggested you would know better than most what I am referring to. After all you've probably built more of the species than I have even seen.

Hello!

As TB actually called me out here, I'd love to add my single cents.

First TB - where are the pictures? I know you have your problems, but man, this is important!

Yes, it's very important to keep your eyes open for new materials and parts in unexpected places. That thing with the zip ties sounds very reasonable.

Yes, it's also important in case of paper models to have paints handy. In a pinch just black will do - to paint the "wires" - parts made of wire, almost all paper models have them - and also very important - to paint the part edges so they are not white. Having colour other than black of course helps, and having colours matched to what's printed is of course very nice to have. Not always possible, though, especially if the colour to be matched isn't really solid but is a pattern - this is sometimes done on printing machines with limited number of colours.

Good luck with your builds and have a nice day

Paweł

Petrojarl-Cidade De Rio Das Ostras -A tip

Hi Ya'll;

      Pawel will know this. As many others may. Some Card models come printed in colors that just seem hard to achieve in marker pens made for this craft. Now here's a tip that should help.

     I am using this ship as example because she is a Primer (Pink) for want of a clear description. Now, this is a hard color to match for the purpose I have to talk abou t-Because the item I will be talking about doesn't always, or hardly ever comes in White. It's usually Black,Green, Red or Yellow, even Blue!

     I am also sure you will all know what they are, Zip Ties! I bought a small bag of them years ago for an electronic project that never happened. They are put out by as labeled, Cable Ties -" Utilitech-Brand-100ct.-4"-10,16cm. I was looking at the Paper stairs on this ship. I tried to replace them with 1/400 stairs from P.E.

   I don't know what's going on here. If the Ship is 1/400 scale as labeled, then the P.E WAS NOT 1/400 as labeled. Or VersaVisa, So I had to find something with depth because the primer Pink stairs meant you could not see the printing for the steps! It's bad enough that they don't have side handrails, but, to not be able to see stairtreads for as many as there are just in one area on this ship, is a Bummer.

      Here's where I am always harping about " Found" Materials. I painted one tie( Mine were black) with a Pink Primer that I mixed from one quarter bottle of Testors "Rust"( Model Master Bottle size.)  And one half Bottle of Insignia White ( Flat) Same size bottle. Mix well with a mixing stick and then Shake the Hades out of it!-Viola' One nice three quarters bottle full, of Primer Pink that actually matches the color the ship was printed in!

    I measured the space, Cut a section off, took an X-Acto knife and cut the stair section at the right angle, top and bottom . Then, Take your Glue, put a wee bit on each end and mount in place. Boy! What an improvement! I may try to cut the handrails off the P.E. Stairs and mount them on the " Tie" made stairs with Bob Williams C.A.

 They sure look kicking! Well, I will check in again after I touch up all the deck and hardware edges with The Paint so there isn't any white showing where it aint sposed to aughta be. Catchya Later!
