well, I already did this kit, but I like it so much that I bought a second one and I am going to paint it. its an old kit(no individual fingers Sad [:(] ) but looks amazing when all painted up. can't wait to get started.

But then again maybe I should be finishing my other kits.......... nah, this is to much fun to pass up. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

should find the AM conversion n do the other one as Hazel.  Quel is like one of the best looking GMs aside from the Powered GM (still gotta build mine even though I got the conversion kit like a whole year ago).

I'm not a huge hazel fan, but that is a cool idea. The goal is a repaint of the quell. I am using tamyia paints, mostly german-esque colors like field blue and various shades of grey.

I do need a suggestion on the color of the clear visor that goes over the main cameras on the head. It is normaly orange, but I am looking for something different. On second thought, lets make this a contest. The person who comes up with a color I can use for the eye will get a Master Grade kit sent to them. you can either put your suggestion here or you can PM me. All are welcome to partisipate. Hopefully this will atract new Gunpla modelers to this part of the forum or get any existing gunpla modelers to try a larger scale.

You have 2 weeks to get your suggestions to me.

good luck!

fine, i will put in my entry first then.  Two of them actually.  One, gloss black primer with alclad chrome (or watever chrome paint you can find, Rust-oleum makes a nice bright metal coat that has a chrome shade), then coated with a mix of Tamiya clear yellow + a touch of clear orange.  It gives that reflective gold shade as an effect that's close to Master Chief's Visor from Halo.

Second would be to those chameleon spray paints that gives off a cool shade though my favorites are still pearl metal coats which you can recreate with chrome+clear color+tamiya pearl clear coat.

Hazel has fairly different profile compared to Quel and imho the conversion kit doesn't do the justice. Below is the commissioned 1/100 scale fixed pose resin kit that I'm working on.

I'd say paint them as AOZ Quel. I always like AOZ colour scheme~

still can't get my new AB for a bit, got to get some other things first. On the up side I think I will put up a MG Zaku Cannon AND a Gundam ver. 2.0 as the little prize for my contest. I am also extending the deadline for this one week furthur than I stated, giving all interested two more weeks from this post to get their suggestions in. Again this is for everybody! young or old, big or small. no moneys needed on your part. completly free!

also, I am working on a new photo booth to shoot pics in. no more messy final shots!

later all,

Well, I kind of turned this in to a custom convertion like some of you suggested. However, that being said, it is not the hazel quel. This is a kind of tune-up for the Quel if you will. All I want you to imagine in your heads is this--- RGM-79 NT1

EDIT: I think I am going to cut this little contest of mine short. Partialy to the lack of responce in the last week or two. on the plus side I am still going to give the winner his kits. Pics and the winner to come later today.

sorry bout the delay, but MS Live Spaces sucks donkey nuts. on that note I do not have any of the dosens of pics I shot of this kit uploaded anywhere just yet.

As for the winner of my little contest, it is...................  archangel571! congrats as you were one of the only 2 people to suggest anything. I went with a variation of the first suggestion you made. Instead of clear yellow and orange, I went with a clear blue that looks great on this classic white and red GM paint scheam. PM me with your mailing address and I will send your kits out as soon as I can.

Here are those pics I haven't been able to get online for a bit. I would have posted them this morning, (remember I'm in Japan) but I went and taught english to some japanese kids. lots of fun! OH! that reminds me, the Gundam 2.0 is in some of these pics!

I was having some fun with one of my friends gundams, in this case the gundam ver 1.5

This kit is one of the two that gave me the idea for this project. it is the gundam Alex with the new GM Quel head that I built. you know, just testing for fun........

This is kind of what the finished kit should kinda look like... minus paint........

anywho, more to come. And as always, Questions and comments welcome and encouraged! Cool [8D]

Wow, I like the look of the GM head..ed NT1.  Especially cuz the paint scheme is still kind of GMish instead of the more one color schemed GM custom and Quel.  Considering the later GMs from 0083 were based on the NT-1 body design for mass production, what you did there can actually work thanx to the great folks at anaheim elec.  I hope GE eventually evolves into something like AE.  It'd be so awesome... though GE still needs a better/cooler looking logo. (Mind is drifting off else where)

put on the chest chobham armour from NT-1.

That will make this one real bad *** - like the soldier wearing the body armour... ^ ^

You kinda read my mind! how close are you, are you behind me?!?! Laugh [(-D]

But seriously, I am planing on building the chobham armor, if nothing else than just to display with it. I won't be able to put the waist parts on though, due to the fact that I am using the Quel waist armor insted of the Alex. The paint job I have planed is some Mr surfacer 1000 and a clear red that I think would look awesome. As for the rest of the MS, the shield gives the paint job away, a classic RGM-79 GM red and white.

With chobham armor the chest piece should be straight on and with little bit of modification the cockpit piece should go on too~ Or replace QUel cockpit cover with Alex one - shouldn't be too hard to shove it in... ^ ^;

nah, I won't need any mods for the xtra chest armor, all that is Alex for the most part. the hip armor is from the GM though. all the rest of the kits xtra armor will fit, just not there.

It is photo time again!

One more thing I forgot to mention in previous posts is the fact that I am also going to use the RX-178 Ver 2.0 hands insted of the normal ones.

Thats all for now! Comments, complaints and suggestions will now be heard. Big Smile [:D]

Coming along very nicley Puma, but I gota say, that Gundam 2.0 is ugly as sin, I cant even imagine building that without either making your own, or using the armor pieces from the Ver Ka.  That smooth surface looks ugly as sin.

The 2.0 is intended to look like it is strait out of the anime. thats why it has all those smooth armor plates. even the back is anime style, look at the thrusters on the back of the gundam in the anime and you will see what I am talking about. from a builders standpoint I love the 2.0, its so poseable that I am trying to create my own web comic featuring gundams of all shapes and sizes.( If you are wondering what that may look like check out www.neomonsterisland.com and you will see where I got my insperation from. I freaken love that comic!) I want to use the 2.0 for the simple reason that it does look so wierd compaired to the other RX-78-2's out there, nothing against the others, I mean I love my OYW version, but the new kit just has more ability for expresion than the other kits. also, it is a nice break from all the hardcore mil spec looking gundam kits. I guess I am just a sucker for Tomino's gundam, the original, not that seed bull crap (sorry if you are a big seed fan, I am not.)

OK, rant over. thanks for the complements! I hope I didnt break anyones pride or something like that, just had a sudden surge of words (this is rare for me) so I spat what was on my mind. on the plus side, I have a test pic using my new backdrop for shooting pics! Can anyone guess what the name of the bot in the pic is? It happens to be one of my favorite super robots at the moment. old as hell too.

Oh, and about using the armor from ver. Ka, it would take months of converting the armor so that it would fit properly, and I just dont have that kind of time or even feel the need to mess up an already sound kit. if you get around to it, I would love to see a work up on it. later!

The newer gen of Gundam watchers and Gunpla makers are just too pampered by the newest n best MG designs with all the extra bells and whistles and details.  Bandai's 2.0 move was simply to pay homage to the classic design and more or less a fan service for those who adore the original 1979 series. (Face it... MG kits can still be used as ....dare i say it... nice lil action figure toy)  I for one still like the old clean look (also a whole other level above the round cylinder limbs of mazinger) which was probably the reason i enjoyed that HGUC rx-78-2 very much when I got it like 7 or 8 years ago, so I highly recommend that too.

As for the pic... my my isn't that shin getter robo 1...

you are close, Its the updated Getter 1 from the OVA Shin (Change) Getter Robo or Getter Robo Armaggedon as it was known in the states. It was based on the first Getter Robo cartoon show from the 60s - 70s.

Believe me it's even harder than that! I still have half finished RX-78 ver OYW with ver Ka armour pieces on it some where. To retain the posability and the removal of armour was/is nightmare to tackle... Hence it's straight into one of junk bin to be recycledin future...

actualy the next three MG kits are as follows unless bandai changes their mind..

#1- Infinite Justice- this month I think?..

#2- MS-06R2 Shin Matsunaga custom(not sure I spelled that right)- November

#3- MSN-06S Sinanju- December

I have not seen any thing about a G-3 Ver2.0 as of yet, but it would be nice. I am still hopeing for a GM 2.0.

Dj- I know what you mean, I am doing a Gouf/Zaku IIF2 mix and its a pain in the nuts.

funny, thats what I said bout the Shin MG. lol.

as for the GM 2.0, as long as they do the core block the right way, they can almost just recycle the gundam 2.0 kit and put it in a new box with a new head.

which you talken bout, the zakus, or the gundam and GM?

If you are talken Zakus, no there is no diference save the weapons and paint. they are the same model mobile suit.

as for the gundam and gm, the gm is directly based on the gundam itself. yes there are some diferences such as, no core fighter for the GM, the weapons, generator output, armor, the list goes on and on.

also, dont forget who your talking to, I'm a bored Marine with a computer and next to nothing to do in my off time exept watch anime and build models. I know my gundams as well as I know my job.

on a side note, an RX-78 NT1 2.0 kit would be nice as well.
