That particular boxed set is 1/2500 scale.  It goes together fairly well - it's a snap-kit - but as you already mentioned, there are parts that need to have the deflector grid sanded off.  As dirkpitt77 mentioned, there's also quite a lot in the way of after market decals for those.

   I BELIEVE....they are 1/1400 scale.  I haven't built these myself, but I've heard that they do need some work as far as sanding off raised panel lines and perhaps some fit and accuracy issues.  There is pretty good aftermarket support for them though, decals and whatnot.

I've always been a fan of Star Trek, having grown up watching TNG, and I saw this kit but couldn't find the scale anywhere on the box, or how big it was.  So I thought I'd post here and ask if anyone has assembled this kit and knows about how large the ships are or how well they work out before I dropped the cash on it.  I've not really dipped into starship modeling in a long long time (I did a terrible defiant about 5 years ago)
