Thanks very much.

I will say that the build was fun up to a point. All the little bits of detail on the aft section got a bit old after awhile. Then I painted the base coat and stuck it on a shelf for a year before returning to it. Mainly, this was because the dry environment of New Mexico caused a good deal of the paint to dry just after leaving the airbrush and I had a pebbly finish all over the model. I was very frustrated. I had to carefully remove this crap and did so quad by quad at the same time as my decals and weathering. Otherwise, cleanup would have been dull and made me cranky.

Landing gears are my least favorite thing to do, and that slowed me down a bit. In the end, I'm happy first to have actually completed a model and second that it looks ok.

Next up is the 1/350 Refit Enterprise, which has also been half built on a shelf for a few years...

You can pick them up from (in alphabetical order for those online places I know have them in-stock):

Hobby Link Japan

or

The Starship Modeler Store here in the USA.

These kits are a bit pricey, tho, at roughly USD$230.  I have no clue what the shipping would be from either Japan or the US to Ireland, but imagine that wouldn't be terribly cheap, either.  No local hobby shops that carry this or that you could special order thru?

Regardless, these really do build up to an awesome display piece.

Beautiful work, Phil!  Excellent attention to detail on that!  I honestly don't see a bit of laziness done on the kit.  If so, I want to be lazy like you!  Smile [:)]

Hey, shoot me a PM over at SM about those battlestar parts for your Timeslip kit.

Check you out. Astrazoic got skills. Jedi skills. Cool [8D]

That's a nice lookin' model right there. Lots of really good attention to detail, flawless execution. Sweet. I especially like those little blast marks on the side of the cockpit.

How big is it finished? Did the figures come w/ it?

More please.

It took awhile, but I finally finished my FM Millennium Falcon.

http://www.philsmith.us/PhilSmith10.html#Falcon

It's built mostly out of the box, though I added PE grills and landing gear baffles (or whatever those are), bought from the Starship Modeler Store. I also separated the engine panels at the rear, which look like they operate independently.

I added a few bits of greebly to the aft end, using a photo of the engine area I happened to have. I painted the thing 1:1 Reefer White/Grime, then used the kit decals for the various color panels as I was a bit lazy and did not want to paint those. I was really happy with these decals, and it was fun to weather them down. Most folks leave it at that, but the instrument/machinery bays have lots of neat little things in them screaming for special attention, so I added color in each.

I really didn't try to be as accurate to the film as possible, especially since the various miniatures of the MF differ anyway. I just wanted to have fun and I did. On reflection, I should not have used the engine grill. I think it looks stupid, and I really can't see the cool row of engine nozzles I labored on. What a shame.
