Road War Buick WIP
Posted by Baronvonboot on Sunday, October 5, 2008 1:48 PM

I listed this in Autos , but i guess it's more if a Sci Fi build so i will continue the WIP here .

Here is what i have done so far . I add bars to the rear window , front armor plate to the windshield , side skirt armor for the driver , twin front machine guns , smoke dischargers , and a rear flame thrower . All was done with sheet or tube styrene . The model base is an AMT 1970 Bucik Wildcat . I am working on armor plates for the tires and side window armor .

Here are a few pics of the build so far .

Howdy Baronvonboot,

Nice work so far...at first I thought this was something out of 'Death Race' or something {I apologise for my faux paus}, but still like what you are doing : - )

I have always been a BIG fan of anything Road Warrior-esque so your Buick fits right in...guess I'll have to check out this "Road Wars" thing you refer to..........

Keep up the good work, and try to expand more on your 'how-to' as much as your 'how did' posts...they are a help to all, right? ; - )

That was just a name i called the wip . The idea came from a book i read from Allan Dean Foster . It was a short story of his from Friends Like These . Also movies like Death Race helped too .

I have since added the armor to the wheels . I had to shorten the wheels to allow them to fit . Also worked on some roll bars and some small details inside . A control panel for the weapons on the steering wheel and some shifters . Not sure if its 100% right for the car , but it looks good .

Trying out the salt thingy on this model . I airbrused a red brown color and salted everything . Then using rattle cans i sprayed the body a coral blue . I plan to weather this after removing the salt . The bottom i used light earth , only dark color i had . I plan to weather this also . The chrome parts were sprayed with chrome . The rest is just a grey primer . The inside i am still thinking on how to paint . Might add some sort of carpet like item to the roof and floor . The seats i might go with a white/blue/black look to them . Here is a pic so far of what i did . This is something i was just doing so i could resist painting my Stug III too ealry for the primer to set .

Kewel!  I like the work you put in to this so far.  Definitely has a sort of Road Warrior/Death Race feel to it.  Makes me think of the old RPG Car WarsBig Smile [:D]
