Actually, I've heard reviews of the TIE Interceptor kit, and heard that was the weakest link in the kit was the pilot. I'd heard that it looked more like a WWII pilot than anything else. Well, that, and a lack of cockpit detail

Warmest regards,

Roger

AMT kits suffer from horrible figures, and figures that do not belong to a particular kit.

I have some TIE Interceptors and the figure looks like a B wing pilot with open faceplate and ovoid helmet.

Great! It has a lotta detail for what it is. I do agree with Desert Rat though. The figgies do look srange.

Really nice build! The detail in the cockpit is really intrucate!

But I gotta ask about the pilots- doesn't exactly look like rebel pilot flight suits. At least not like in the films. Any idea why?

Roger

I worked on a 3d model to make patterns.

I am torn between putting the time into the kit or just starting from scratch. I don't plan to do a studio size model. If anything, I would do a super-detailed version half the size of the kit. That being the case, it would be roughly 3 1/2 inches long, but a nice desk piece.

I have built the kit many times and it's not that bad.  The cockpit lacks and the figures are total wacked but it still builds up real nicely.  I bought the Outter Space Outfitters control panels and they really make a difference in making the interior.  I'll shot some pictures of mine so you can see...

For the longest time this was your only shot if you wanted a Speeder, but no it looks like Fine Molds is going to release a 1/48th scale one.  If it's like any of thier other products, save your pennies it will be well worth it....

Hiya, and Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the Forums!

I've got that kit in my stash, but as of yet I haven't built it yet. Hopefully someone else can answer up here

Warmest regards,

Roger

Anyone who has experience with this kit knows how bad it is.

I have been sitting on this for many years and have decided to make a project out of it.

The Good: The basic hull lines are acceptable.

The Bad: All the surface detail and parts need to be reproduced.

The Ugly: The pilots. Have to sculpt figures.

I spent most of the 90's as a professional model builder and sculptor. I lost most of my zeal to make models but have the bug again. Let's see how this goes.

If anyone of you "after-market" guys want to kit this out, let me know. I don't want to make any molds or do any casting.

Here are the parts that I am going to use and modify:
