Star Wars Storm Commando
Posted by Boba Fett on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 5:06 PM

Now that I have discovered how to post pics here (much like cavemen and fire), prepare to be barraged with photos of my mediocare models! Next we have a Storm Commando. Basically the only difference between scouts and commandos is that commandos have way cool armor, black paint job, and superior training. Essentially I took the AMT kit and modded it to look like the following. Questions and/or comments are always welcome!

Sorry that the pics are sometimes blurry/glared. I'm still getting used to my digital! Sides, gloss black is horrible on cameras!

That's awesome, Boba! Looks great!

I am curious. I don't remember Imperial Commandos in any of the films. Where are these guys referenced?

Warmest regards,

Roger

the only place I have seen them is in the comics. it was a good story too.

EDIT- looks great! when you take pics of your models, try using the macro or super-macro setting on your camera. its the little flower icon. second, for black things, try a white backdrop, this makes seeing the kit easier.

Thanks! I'll add a few more pics later! Commandos also appeared in the video game "Rebel Strike" for game cube (Which I have). They wernt the same though. They were also mentioned in the X-wing books series. I think it was "Wedge's Gamble".

By the way, I'll explain my mods later but the gun is from a Gundam weapons set. Found it on sale and the size is perfect! I used the idea from the game republic commando with a weapon that can be adapted for anti armor, sniper, or plain automatic.

I thoguth that looked like a GM weapon.  I was out a couple of weeks ago trooping with a Storm commando. Cool armor, i tried his helmet on, great vision and it flips up for some air.  I just love the all gloss black look. Many of the recent toys have "shadow" paint on them now...

How do you plan to present the model,on a simple or more complex base?

Very nicely done!  I think I would try and tone down the gloss look a bit, maybe hit it with a semi-gloss?

Regardless, nicely done!  I like the scratch-bashing you did on his rifle.  Thanks for sharing.  Bow [bow]

Wow, I've nerve gotten one of these Bow [bow] before! The gloss just looks bad because of the camera flash. I probabily will tone it down a little though. As a side note, the bike is RLM 66 schwartch-grau (forgive my spelling, been a long time since I took German) and then I "wet-dry-brushed" it with plain old black for the camo effect. Ever since I played Republic Commando I though that the rifle was so cool! Thus, you see a version of it here. I plan on making more in the future (I'm copying Schwenhunt 227) I'll post them when I start on them!

For the base, I plan on using the old kit base for now. Later, I plan on making a small base w/terrain and a clear rod to support it up.

Kotobukia makes a line of weapons for robot kits in their M.S.V. line of upgrades. I am not sure where online you would find them, maybe on HLJ, but I usualy buy mine from my LHS. here in japan.
