Mecha digital Camo?
Posted by smeagol the vile on Wednesday, December 24, 2008 3:10 AM
I have been attempting to do mecha digital camo, the alternating colored squares.  Has anyone attempted this?  I'm having trouble getting it right.

Well it's not exactly mecha, but it's related...  http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=142193&hl=digital Hopefull this is close to what you're looking for.

This is a nice thread that has quite a few links in it from ARC. I'll be using it if/when we get a Whif GB going here... I've got an X-35 begging for digital camo.

the difference for mecha, is the majority of the time they are perfectly symetrical squares or other shapes.  Like this http://www.bakuc.com/modeler/manyueru/1043 or more specificly http://www.bakuc.com/modeler/mtomczek/48 (see the pics with the armor on)

my first mech was done in something reminiscent of digital, done when it first came out.

I used two lobes of color in large blocks then a black Zig pen to add literlly thousands of dots in patterns to break up the lobes.

almost looked like reversed WWII Ambush pattern...
