I would go with a metalic bronze, try Hawkeyehobbies stuff, he makes some good stuff for making and polishing metalic paint surfaces.

If yall want to know, Star ship modeler either... just got a bunch of these in, or they are coming soon

The original (George Pal 1954 version) Martian war machine photographic models were actually polished copper, with lighted green plexiglas nose and wingtips.

Hawkeye's Talon Copper works great for this, btw.  Here's my scratchbuilt version:

Here is a pic of a TOS Cylon Raider I am trying to finish. I used alclad 2 duraluminum on the wings, Magnesium on the center section and pale burnt metal on the exhaust nozzles.

I am thinking of getting one of these kits myself. If so, I am going to use alclad 2 copper. If you are not familiar with alclad, its a lacquer paint so be careful when you use it.

I'm not sure what kind of finish to put on these.

The photographs all show a metallic finish.(copper-bronze-gold?)

I'm thinking using either metallic paint or metal foil.

I've never used metal foil nor have I painted an entire model with metallic paint.
