Glencoe Mars Liner...
Posted by minimortar on Saturday, February 7, 2009 8:54 PM

Built this 10+ years ago, decided to have a little more fun with it recently. I recall it being a fun kit to do... decals are from my spares box. In 1/144th scale Laugh [(-D]

Thanks,
Kevin Keefe

Looks good. How was it to build?I've never built anything even remotely similar, but I've been on a huge sci-fi kick for 2009.

Thanks. Built over 10 years ago, I can only recall a lot of sanding. The Glencoe 3 Stage Ferry Rocket (currently in process) also requires a lot of sanding but in both kits, fit is quite good.

Thanks,

That looks nice. Is the surface detail molded on, or is it all decals?

Was there a lot of flash on the kit? I've been thinking about trying to do something w/ Glencoe's Airjeep model, wanted to know how much extra work I'm looking at.

Thanks. I really can't remember the specifics of this kit but there are a ton of spares box decals on this. I don't think that the kit was too bad for something that I had really never done before... sci fi. There was IICRC, a lot of sanding but fit etc wasn't all that bad. I stuck with it and well, got a local trophy or two with it a long time ago.

I'm in the process of doing their 3-stage ferry rocket... well, started it a number of years ago and recently broke it out again to finish it off. Lots of sanding with this one as well but it's a fun/funny subject. I'll stick with it. Both kits were cheap enough to purchase and well worth any troubles encountered. I bet that the airjeep would be a blast to do too.

Thanks,
Kevin Keefe
