Does anyone know if there is proof or rumor of a model being released of the Enterprise from the upcoming Star Trek movie to be released this may?

It's pretty much a guarantee.

Also, look at the 4th image here!

Looks good, but a bit too streamlined for the original ship.

I know it's only a toy, but as they say in boston, Wicked cool! I haven't heard any buzz about a model of this enterprise anywhere though.  Apart from the new Akira model coming out later this year I guess its only barely on the radar for someone like polar lights / round 2.  Even if they started the process now, it would be months before design was finalized, molds cast, etc. But this is still a good sign though!

This ship makes me so sick I will not waste money on the movie.  JJ Abrams has NO erspect for canon.

Ahhh, TOS does bring out the passions in people.  Some will like it, some won't.

As for a kit of the nuE, I actually wrote to Round 2 asking them if they were going to produce a ship in plastic, preferably in 1/1000 to match PL's other original offerings.  They're response was that they'd like to.  They are aware of the "controversy" over the design of the ship, so they are tentative about the type of profit it could turn.  They are talking to Paramount, but of course Paramount is nortorously difficult in their licensing.

Basically, if you'd like to see the nuEnterprise in plastic, write to Round 2.  There's a "contact us" link on their website.  So far the prevailing scale from the group at Starship Modeler is 1/1000.

I'll be sure to buy a second ticket to make up for the one you're not buying just to foil your plan. Evil [}:)]Smile [:)]

For those interested, QMX is producing a 1/350th model of the new ship that is pre built and sure to cost major $$$. The ship was built from the cgi files and licensed by para borg. Link is here:

WOW!  Seeing that abortion in its full glory makes me hate it it even more than I thought I would.

Still can't wait to see the new movie, though... and buy 2 tickets.

HEre's my review of the Playmates toy that I posted at trekbbs.

So because I'm a compulsive when it comes down to all things Trek and because there are no plans in the works for a model kit of the NuEnterprise, I grabbed the Playmates Ship up at Wal Mart yesterday.

I opened it tonight expecting to be disappointed as I usually am by Playmates and because I HATE the NuEnterpise.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I absolutely love it. This is by far the best ship Playmates has ever made and the prototype pics and box pics don't do it justice.

Aside from the fact that it's a really good offering from Playmates, the ship looks great and what I've hated and merely tolerated I now really like. I'm not saying that I wouldn't have gone another way (something in between NX-01 and TOS) but I really love this design, now (I know, blasphemy).

Forgetting all my prior complaints about it the one thing that is bugging me just a little bit (and you don't notice until you see it up close) is that the nacelles seem a little too close together for my taste.

Here is my review of the toy itself.

Cons: First, the lights and sounds are lame. I don't like it when they talk and these do. The lights themselves are all timed together and it's basically like someone's sticking a flashlight in the aft end and flickering it (also, a lot of light leakage). There could be a lot less seams on this thing as well and there is only a simple two-tone paint scheme with no aztecking.

Pros: Small and very solid. Looks to be about 1:750 scale. No decals, hull markings are printed on. Seems very detailed (I don't have a whole lot of closeups of the CGI model yet to make a better assessment than this) for a Playmates ship. I like the style and engineering of the stand.

Notes: Other than the nacelles being close together I also noticed something I had never seen befroe: the saucer section is at a slight up angle. Also, even though it seems similar to the refit saucer, the edges re rounded like the TOS version.

Summary: Despite the issues I pointed out ealier (which most are simply inherent to the nature of it being a toy) I really like this product and the NuEnterprise which is somethingI never thought iwould hear myself say. This would make a great addition to any collection and it IS a ship worthy of the name Enterprise.

8.0/10

If they do release a model, look on the bright side, you won't have to sweat that danm crazy azteck pattern!  AND it cert.. looks a lot closer that the nx-01.

Nopity, nope.  NuEnterprise is also heavily Aztecked... and rightly so. ;)

Aztecks areeasy if you decal them.  I'm considering doing it the Playmates ship.

I would enjoy building the kit, espeially in 1/350 scale, it would be a nice collection to the set I have now.

Plus an original series in 1/350

Aztecks are easy if you decal them.  Capt Hawk, is there an aftermarket source for the Azteck patterns or is it a matter of hand-cutting? I've got that dilemma with the NX-01 kit.

http://www.acreations.com

Acreations has the best sets out there right now. There's also a set available through Starship Modeler that's really good but I forgot who it's by and I don't know if it's in stock. I'm sending this via my iPhone right now so I can't jump between browser pages to give you more info.

I'm still conflicted about the new movie and ship.  Good points and bad to both.  I'll still get the kit whenever it's released, to round out the collection if nothing else.

Did someone mention a new Akira?  Info, please?

At last year's WonderFest, Round 2 announced they were coming out with a 1/1000 Akira.  About a month ago, they announced that the Akira was put on hold so they could focus on their newest license acquisition, the Refit Enterprise, that they plan on releasing in 1/1000.  Considering the amount of work that has already gone into the Akira, I imagine that it will be released eventually.
