You misunderstood me, i'm italian.. even if i like japanese cars ,the red side i intend is ferrari, the mclaren-mercedes is the first oppnent... Propeller [8-] just kidding.

returning to mechs and criticism, i have no critics to post to your work, only the pics can be more illuminated, the z-gok pics seems too dark.

keep on building!

Hyundai are good a to b cars, but anything out of Korea I wouldn't bother doing too much to as they're not good performance cars.  The Hyundai Genesis might be interesting performance-wise.  They're better than Chinese cars though.  I have an '87 Toyota MR2 myself.

I have NO problems with critisism - its all part of growing to be better and gaining skills as a modeler - I know that no hostility was aimed at me :)

I am fairly new to Sci-Fi - I have been conctentrating on mostly automotive and motorcycle models -you probably have seen a few of them in Scale Auto or other similar mags.  I like the Sci-Fi stuff more and more because I have grown tired of shiny clear-coated pain jobs LOL

Just constructive criticism, not trying to bash him.  Anything I post up I welcome all constructive criticism.  If you want to get better, you need to have people that are willing to point out mistakes you may have missed.

i'm disappointing only on your nickname..... Sign - Dots [#dots] i support the other side, the red side.

Waiting to see your great Zaku cannon finished

WOW! A can't see how anyone can be critical of your work, it's amazing!

Regarding scale, I think you have done a superb job of customising the figures to suit your ideas, people should have an open mind when looking at your work and see it for what it is! imaginative and highly skilled.

I'd love to be able to do what you have done, it has made me look again at what I do and given me a lot to aim for.

 Thank you for sharing...

I like these. It's obvious you put a lot of work into them. Thumbs Up [tup]

I like some of the weathering. I'm building a 1/20 scale Scopedog, and I intend to beat it up pretty good. Thanks for the links.

Fokker, the vulcans were only used for real close combat, and were primarially used to take out the main cameras, they didnt have the piercing power to actuially take out a mech.  Infantry weapons were still what we have now, more or less, the rounds would be to small to see at 1/144 or 1/100 scale it would be like taking a needle and poking the kit to make the bulet holes, and that would be to big.

Mercedesman, if your not trying to make these cannon, or worrying about scale or anything, then there perfectly fine, keep up the good work, but everyone who knows gundam that sees them will tell you the same.  butby scale, the kits come in 1/144, 1/100, or 1/60, its the same as with tanks and aircraft.  If you dont know, it means that it would take 144 of them to be the size of a real one.

Your Zgok, while it looks really nice, you missed fixingthe seams on the torso, and on the arms. Sometimes there meant to be gaps, like on the legs, but those arent, those are seamlines that should be filled.

Hey thanks for all of the feedback.   Let me address a couple of points made about scale...

I am not trying to replicate a Gundam and I am certainly not trying to replicate a specific scale Gundam.  I was looking at these as either unmanned mobile suits or a "slightly larger then human" suits - where the scale would be appropriate to the dioramas created.

As for brass, the DZok's main arm cannons"could" leave those shells... no?

Smeagol - your thread is awesome - I will be following it with great interest.  I actually wrote atutorial on battle damage before, for another website - of if you want to check it out - here is a link:

Let me know if you cant see it - I will repost it here.

Thanks again,

I see you use Cody's coop to learn to do damage, some of it looks lke it came right out of his tutorial.

A tip whe doing these things, remember the scale.  Your bases are way to large for the kits, a human normal size is realativly the size of one of these's fingers.  Also, the damage you do, remember the scale.  The smallest rounds are 105mm rounds.  There basicly automatic cannons, nothing would make small bullet holes the size you have them.

I do have to say though, I like your scratch building of internals, I am donig the exact same, actuially, check this out.  /forums/1/1104579/ShowPost.aspx#1104579

im dead tired right now, ill check this out in more detail tomarrow. Welcome to the forums.

Gundams have head mounted 60mm vulcans.  So Zakus could be on the recieving end of smaller rounds from the mecha alone.  There's always smaller arms fire from infantry units that could leave holes or dents.  Though I will say the scale on the bases is a bit off.

And an in-progress model: the famous ZUKU

with this one I decided to step up my game and explore different techniques to show damaged panels, under armor wiring, etc:

 note the Israeli markings

if you peek inside the laser burns you will see the wiring inside:

modifications to the shoulders:

the guns were modified too - with live ammo:

finally - the leg mechanism was modified to reveal battle damage

all the wiring and mechanism is scratchbuilt

thanks for checking it out

next up is Terenground Type.  This one was a more mature approach, more weathering, more details, more scratchbuilding and led lights.

 Some build up shots:

I also added a snow base and a diorama - this one depicting a mech abandowned after the battle (i used Russian writing on the signs and the mech for interest)

My Gundam models

Hi there - I am new to this site, but I found some fantastic modelers on this site and I am learning a lot.

I have been intrigued by Gundam - but not in a traditional "cartoonish" depiction, but in a "what if these were modern war machines" way...so I came up with these:

First up is Dzok

I gave it battle damage and heavy washes to make it look battle-worn - and used modern Navy colors.  I also made a base for it:
