hguc dom tropen with added some movable parts

hi all

second  post

this is another of my preferred works with lots of mods, but even one of more unlucky works:

at first attempt the main sand color was another.. a model master sand unused for many years.. after firts layer done i notice that the color does not come dry...

even after few days. Used wrong thinner to rip of the enamel... Banged Head [banghead] enamel came out but the plastic (very different as scale kits plastic) came fragile.

The helmet was breaked in 3 or more pieces ,under legs with creeps Boohoo [BH]

After all rejoined the pieces and recovered sanity works came out:

I can't suffer the sticker that came with these kits, specially to simulathe the monoeyes so i cutthed the base of visor and used as dime to made a clear visor.

monoeye and rails modelled with plasticard

Photobucket

works even on the giant bazooka, viewfinder with clear parts added, and others mods

Photobucket

Under rear foot totally cutted and added holes, central thruster maded by a carabine lead bullet, copper sctatchbuilded hinges to allow up down movement.

improved front skirt movements and added stucture details in all underskirt armo.movable actuators added on knees

Time ago , searching reference to detail it, i found on web a dom tropen with opened knee used as bay for training hook, so decide to try to do somethig like it.

the cover is opening. Used my compass cutter i made two sized plasticard circles, a cilinder in the middle ans from a wood ship kit i took some rope painted with humbrol steel to simulate metal wire. the rest are metal wires bended and glued with ac glue.

others mods on overall model are engraved exitsing panel lines and others panels to simulate a probably way to permit maintenance.

Added details on rear trhuster, beam saber locker.

so the complete reult: model master and humbrol enamel used with brushes. Decals printed by me with clear decals sheets.

I hope you like it

That turned out really nice.

A lot of work on the little guy.

To bad about the bad paint but as they say "been there, done that"

Glad it worked out in the end.

Most likely B Club has books with full interior drawings from the series.

I have all their Macross, VOTOM and Aura Battler Dunbine books from the early 80's when I was into Anime.

thanks,

at the end a way to resolve problems ever exist.

Before to build my kit i ever try to obtain reference for details; the most part i take from MG kirs booklet, other ways is to use military kits experience to invent possibles real details.

this is really nice work on the kit! I have one, and built it OOB with the typical colors, I MUCH prefer the sand Tropen colors you have here and your articulation is excellent!

Nicely done!

I dunno if I mentioned it before, but I love the toecable on the knee cap, how did you build that part, or did it come from something else?

mh..well friend, i'll try to explain:

I don't remember all but the knee mod is full scratched.

first sawed the knee cover, and planned the movement with plasticard rod, after measurement of the avaible space

builded a central cilinder and added discs at outsides so i make the cable home, then, after wrapping a rope from wood naval kit,

i putted in the little space between the disc two shaped piece of brass wire to lock the rope.

Glued a first piece of plastic rod at the rope end, (used CA glue to block all) i built the final hook with brass wires and tiny plasticard pieces as cover..

Behind the rope complex there's a simulation of internal leg bulkhead that sustain all.

It's very difficult to take decent pics of this zone.

I hope that's clear Big Smile [:D]

Again waiting for your new works
