Agreed, John!  Excellent work, TD!  I like that this one, like others recently posted here, aren't the bluish color from the later movies, but is the ANH off-white.

Im working on my paint mix to no avial I keep coming up too blue. Any suggestions?

Go with something out of a rattle can.Plenty of grey shades available if blue doesn't work out.

Lt Ghost Gray out of a can/bottle is as good for the light-colored TIEs as Gull Gray is for Xwings. I've got some Ties in the pipe (one ln, one Interceptor)and will probably go for the darker but not blue ESB colors, probably with dk ghost gray.

I just read at SSM that the studio X-Wings were white sprayed over a black base.

Once weathering is applied,it's not easy to tell what the base coat was.I don't worry too much about what shade of grey I use,but I'm actually itching to paint a few TIEs blue.

If you're going for the "real" color of the first studio models that accidentally got bleached out to light gray in the compositing process, I'd say a non-photogenic blue would be a good starting point for comparison while mixing.
