Zaku Kai 2009-04-12 Update

It's been sparse with the updates but progress has been made - I've been doing some work on the shoulder and upper arm lately.

Aves has been pretty much pissing me off in my work with the shoulder armor - when I add new stuff it flakes off when I try to sand or carve it. Maybe in the future I'll stick to poly putty.

Sorry to hear about the Aves. For small seams, I use Mr. Surfacer 500 as a filler. It's literally cut hours off of each build. Have you tried it yet?

Now why would I go and do a silly thing like that?

The stuff I'm dealing with presently on the shoulder armor is too big for Mr. Surfacer.  It's not just little seams or whatever, it's errors in the curvature of the shoulder armor itself. These need to be built up to get a more regular curvature, then sanded down again to smooth everything out. Primer and spot-putty will play a larger role as the part gets nearer to completion.

It's got a leg now.  I can't say "it's got a leg to stand on", though, 'cause there's no hip, knee, or ankle joints installed...
