I'm showing my age also, but the original issue of this kit had spring loaded missiles as well (at least the viper did).  Unfortunately, they were deemed unsafeSigh [sigh].  Some mom somewhere was afraid an eye would be put out.

Buddy- Those who say there are no stupid questions have never worked in customer service.

Both ships had the missiles.

Reason why missiles where removed from all the models and toys is because some brain dead parents gave a viper toy to a 3 year old that shot the missile down his throat and died.

Stupid parents then sued the toy company an all toys with rockets where removed from the market for close to 10 years.

That is why toys now have age limits printed on the package so stupid parents can't sue the companies for their own negligence and stupidity.

I would hardly use the Onion as a valid news source.

What I posted is fact.

I remember it in the news when it happened and all the toy's being pulled off the market.

I also doubt the onion was around in the 70's.

The onion report, although fictitious,is quite similar to a real reaction to someone doing something stupid.
