1/1700 USS Enterprise NCC-1701-E

The NX-01 does look good!
I felt exactly the opposite about their first two offerings though, MMF. I really liked the 1/850 NCC-1701, and wasn't very impressed with the -E. Haven't built (or bought, actually) the -E, though, so I can't comment on the wiring changes, etc. Just didn't like the way it looked in the box (what kinda goofball critique is that??).

MMF, the NX-01 is on the shelves now, so no need to wait till Christmas!
Unless you're waiting for that special someone to get one for ya!

Me, I don't like the E enough to spend that kind of money on one. But I liked the A enough to buy two! :)

Forgive my ignorance, but who makes the NX-01, Polar Lights, maybe?

PL will be releasing one too. Bandai has one currently available that like their other ships are fully lit-up.

The wiring has grealy improved, the saucer section is now prewired, Wires are pe-cut to proper length and less wires, they now trasnfer power via metal strips as in the base.

Still the same fitting problems though.

I know like the ships design but not sure if I will spend that much money on a snap-together kit. Onlue got the E because it was 50% off.

Hard to pass up 50% off, to be sure!
But I wouldn't pass on a kit just because it's a snap-together.
If it's a crap snap-together kit, sure! But not just because it's snap-together.
Granted, these Bandai kits are rather expensive, but I reckon they're worth it. And if you hunt around (or luck out!), you can find 'em for much less than their "list" price. I didn't score a sweet deal like MMF did, but I did find a place selling them for 20% off.

I haven't seen the Polar Lights TOS Enterprise here yet, though...would like to find one.

the polar lights original enterprise is nice but i prefer something a little larger in scale.the nacelles are also a little annoying in the way they fit on to the pylons.you would think that the mold would be designed to aid you in aligning all the sections of the ship ,but instead of using the mistakes made by ertl to develope a better design,they just went ahead and made theirt own mistakes. i personally am a little disappointed with the kit.

I got the Polar lights Enterprise, nice thing is that you can do multiple versions from the different shows also wiring & lighting it seems to be pretty straightforward and easy.

As for accuracy and ease of assembly, it is a PL kit I say.

I am not fond of snap-together kits at all, the Bandai kit are nice but stillI think the Star Trek kits got fit problems that should be eliminated. I found similar problem with some of the light-up Gundam models.
Wiring can be a headache and parts fit seems to have been a secondary condition.

I remember when the first PG Gundam came out the hobby mags had articles correcting the instructions and showing how to do the wiring correctly.

FYI, I suspect that my local LHS is the Importer for PL over here, they got more stock than everybody else I know.

True, fit problems are a nuisance, snap kit or not.
What I really appreciate about the Bandai Star Trek kits is the well-designed "scarless" sprue attachment points which allow you to cut the parts from the spues without scarring the parts. When I first heard of these pre-painted snap kits, I was a bit leary because I imagined the paint being ruined by removing pieces form the sprues, but such is not the case.
If you're not happy with the fit, but are satisfied with the original paint job, there is a dilemma because you can't putty up the trouble spots without ruining the original paint. I'm sure hardcore Star Trek modelers will refinish the whole thing anyway, so maybe it's not really a problem.
