Excellent - you're quite the mecha builder too! That grey is much better than the white methinks. Can't wait to see it finished. Gone pretty bonkers on that AM stuff too ha ha ha.

Fulcy is a good guy and makes some good products lol - why not share my joy of Gundam with him too heheh.... yeah I was looking at the GM sniper rifle too - i might have to snap that one up as well. I bought the assault machine gun too and going to use Ako's threaded barrel tips for it - should be nice.

This weapon seems to fit the H-Nu pretty well - I think - instead of the long rifle he has now.

I have been DIEING to use some of them resin weapons.  I bought one and didnt like it, as in, I didnt like the weapon itself (the kit was superb)  for the longest time I have been wanting to get the sniper rifle, mod it a little bit, and paint a GM up as a colonial soldier

By the way, your farking nuts for buying all of that, you made Fulcy very happy I bet.

A bit of an update. I got my Mechhaskunk order...think I went overboard?

I started painting the pilot figure - its hard to do with a 1/100 scale

rear propellant tanks

Legs complete with the armor on:

Resin gun with a grenade launcher - casting is excellent, just a few clean ups here and there. I also added an aluminum stock barrel and a few other detail parts

Need to finish panel lines and shoot it with dullcoat.

What do you think?

Yep - what smeagol said exactly!  As for the itnernal frame - Ionly put details and washes and pick out bolts on frames that willbe highly visible through the armor and through movements - like this Hi-Nu.  On others - like Rick Dom - no need to superdetail leg internals lol

Thats an easy answer, the armor, for the most part, is designed to come off.  When you build the armor you open the holes/cut off the snap pegs so it can slide on and off, build it, make sure it all fits, then take it off and paint the frame

I really like the colors you chose.  I have a question though, How do you get the armor on and the seams sealed after you have painted the frame?  I've always wondered this because the instructions don't have you build the frame and then add the armor and I'm the kind of person that has to use the instructions but then I see people with just the internal frame completely put together and I wonder how they do it.

If at first you do succeed, try to hide your astonishment.

quick update:

Finished interal skeleton of the foot and leg - assembled and painted the foot and working on painting the remainder of the leg armor.

As you can see, this MG has a lot of mobility at the ankle, foot, knee, etc.  The pistons are done in tamiya new pagan gold and the shafts are MM aluminum.  The foot dampners are done with a mix of gold and copper.  The details were picked out with a wash.  The foot modifications include pla plate armor bits and other detailing.  The foot thrusters are kit pieces, painted with clear red.

Thanks for looking

Thanks for a positive reply!

I use both preshading and wash.  For preshading on this one I did not go too heavy, a spray of dark grey at the creses and lines.  Then I applied the main color - then for wash I actually use a dilluted wash.  I dillute german grey with 50-60% thinner and allow the wash to lightly run across lines, creases, bumps and other irregularities to highlight the detail - then I apply decals and seal the whole thing with a dull coat (the new stuff from Tamiya is nice but it is not as flat as Testor's military dullcoat)

The Bazooka

Here are the arms

and the shoulders - the vents received extra detailing, the side verniers are aluminum items (painted).  This is my favorite pose as well.  I am planning on making the Hi-Nu kneeling on one knee and looking down at the pilot, who will be sanding onhis open palm.  What do you think?

Please give me any feed back - good or bad - I am still learning.

you should, yes. As soon as I get some real free time at home I am going to issue a challange to this forum.  I have a set of reference pics, Im going to challange everyone to either try and make a dio on the reference shots, or to do a Scifi/mecha kit. (the reference shots are WWII american soldiers relaxing with musical instruments on the field between combat)

This forum needs some diversity, it cant be fun for like, doog, for example, to do his 200th hetzer or whatnot.  I think all armor would get some good experiance from doing mecha, and the other way around.

As for eyes I paint them - what I do is cover the eye piece with chrome foil.  Then I paint the eyes a mixture of clear yellow and clear orange (both tamiya paints).  Once these are dry, I paint the surround in flat black.  Then I put a drop of Krystal Klear over the eyes to give them a little gloss.

I gotta remember that one. Bow [bow]

lol yeah - the Hi-Nu is not the cheapest lol

I also modded the head so that I can pull the mask in and out anytime - it helps with painting and getting rid of plastic gaps on the head.

A few questions.  One, do you paint your eyes, or use the stickers, if you pantem, how.

Second, are you going to go with the straight edged blue white on the fin funnels, or are you going to do a phasing, blue to fade out?

ARE YOU NUTS?! Hi-Nu, not only challanging but the cost, omfg

Nice! The color scheme reminds me of the RX-78-3, or I guess maybe some of the sentinel designs. Gold eyes really work with the colors here, too.

Second build.  I waiting for a lot (A LOT) of Mechaskunk parts and decals - so I jumped the gun on this one lol - but there are more of them coming soon so I can safe those parts for later - until I get better.

Traditional paint job - with a slight deviation - instead of white,I am using a bluish-gray called Purple Gray from Tamaya.

I experiemented with new techniques - rescribing panel lines, pla armor bits, small modifications (I figured I would start small)

Please give me any suggestions or comments - please.
