Wow, the old 1.0 ZakuII. Props to building this old quirky MG!

Make sure to attend to all the seam lines or Smeagol will not be pleased. :D

hehe old Zaku is odd looking lol.

Those spikes and tubes look really good - where id you get them? Mechaskunk?  And are you going to paint the spikes or leave them in bmf?

First, I gota say...

Your freaking nuts taking on a 1.0 Zaku when you can get a 2.0

That being said, you probably got this for like 5$ I got mine for that price on Ebay.

I like the interior colors, though I dunno about the silver all way around, seems.. I dunno, unnatureal, for some reason.

A tip on the pannel lines, I can already tell, because the lines are so thick, the pannels are going to be WAY to dark.  My suggestion, paint them red like the rest, get a darker (not much) red and pannel line them with that, then give THAT a wash with black to get the corners, will give a much better shaded effect.

PRO TIP!!

Pannel lines arent just black lines, there recessions where the armor goes together, or where hatches and such are, the black lines come from the shadows, so they wouldnt necesserially be black black.

Thanks for the tips smeagol I will do what you said. I think thats about the only think that I am not to good with is the Pannel lines I was hoping someone would give me tips on them lol. Also Smeagol you seem to know your stuff about gundam so I wanted to ask what seires should I watch frist since I have only seen the 8th ms team and a couple others single episode here and there from G gundam, plus whatever was in the video game I happen to be playing at that time.

Thanks John

Ok, if you dont know the basic story watch the origional MS gundam.  After that, I Suggest you head for the other OVA style series from the one year war (so to speak) 0080, war in the pocket, and 0083, Stardust memory.  Zeta gundam is quite good as well, though not my favorite series, some stuff in it that I dont like.  I highly recomend 0083 though, its my favorite series.

Since your not good with pannel lines, do you even know what a wash is? (not trying to be mean) Take some acrylic paint, pout it in a seperate container (I use pill bottles) mix it with water, about 10% paint 90% water, and mix it.  You put it in the gaps and let it run and pool, itl pool in edges and recessed lines and stuff, and lightly stain it the color of the wash.

Thanks smeagol yes I know what a wash is I have just never done it before. Also do you only just do the pannel lines in black or do you have a certain way you do them?

well, the way I do them, is I get my smallest detailing brush and use that to apply the wash.  I use the wash for multiple things.  Use it on the lower edges of raised detail as well, put it in, wipe it with a towel, what stays looks like a shadow.

You can, ultimatly, do it whatever color you want, depends on what you need.

Some say you should, I personally dont do it, but then I use acrylic washes over enamel coats, so there is no need for a top coat.

When they say use a topcoat its for if your using an ensmel wash, so the thinner doesnt damage the top coat, also, glosscoats are smooth, while flat coats are jagged, washes move better over gloss, but it isn't that much of a difference.
