Enterprise NCC-1701 in 1/2500 scale
Posted by trekriffic on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 5:45 PM

This is the 1/2500 Enterprise from the AMT/ERTL 3 ship set. Months of work went into this little ship to get as close to the studio model as possible. After hours of puttying, filing, and sanding, to reshape the bridge dome, B-C deck, saucer rim, deflector dish and housing, shuttle bay doors and fantail, and nacelles I appllied white primer and a basecoat of light ghost grey enamel followed by Testors glosscote before decaling (I used Absolute Models decals) then sealed with glosscote followed by dullcote over which I rubbed in a light coating of silver pastel chalk (I have the Tamiya set with brush and applicator) giving her a metallic look similar to the remastered Enterprise. More glosscote over the pastel chalk and then white decal film was cut and trimmed with an exacto knife to fit each window as the decal windows were all black. Round windows were created using a white gel pen. The bussard engine effect was achieved using enamels and gel ink pens. Weathering was done with pastel chalk and gel ink. A final spray of dullcote was applied for the final finish.

If anyone is interested, I have a few more pics including WIP photos of the ship just after the primer coating was sprayed on.

Wow, considering its size, that is freaking amazing. The front of the nacelles especially, I haven't seen better at 8 times the scale.
