HI,

The technology of Westinghouse Nuclear Power Plants is the basis for nearly 50 percent of the world's operating commercial nuclear power plants. The projects of Nuclear Power Plants are varied yet innovative, with customer-driven design and cost-efficient performance.

Nuclear Power Plants specializes in two major product lines:

New Nuclear Power Plants
Nuclear Power Plants provides the development and startup for new units worldwide. It is a leader in the design of advanced pressurized water reactor (PWR) systems. Exploring new technologies for tomorrow's energy markets, Nuclear Power Plants is working with the U.S. government to enable the capital costs of new plants to be more competitive in the energy marketplace.

Component Manufacturing
Nuclear Power Plants manufactures precision stainless steel components including reactor vessel internals, reactor coolant pumps, and control element drive mechanisms

I had this model complete and in the original box from 1965 to 1998. July 20, 1998, a bolt of lightning hit my ham antenna  and traveled the coas into the house.  I lost 5000 of the 8000 kits inb my stash... The Westinghouse Power Plant was one of them.

I Should have built it!

I remember seeing this in Woolsworth in 1960 when I was 9 years old.

Either they didn't always wrap models in those days or someone opened it.

I remember all the cool colorful parts. I must have looked at this thing 20x till one day a clerk told be not to be opening the boxes until I bought it.

I've seen it on ebay several times. Seems like it was $400ish.

Nuclear power is the fourth-largest source of electricity in India after thermal, hydro and renewable sources of electricity.[1] As of 2010, India has 19 nuclear power plants in operation generating 4,560 MW while 4 other are under construction and are expected to generate an additional 2,720 MW.[2] India's nuclear power industry is undergoing rapid expansion with plans to increase nuclear power output to 63,000 MW by 2032.[3] The country is involved in the development of nuclear fusion reactors through its participation in the ITER project and is a global leader in the development of thorium-based fast breeder reactors.[4]

Actually, just for the record, the current company's name is Siemens Westinghouse.

I used to work for them and did a few nuke plants myself. Cowboy

Nuclear energy originates from the splitting of uranium atoms in a process called fission. At the power plant, the fission process is used to generate heat for producing steam, which is used by a turbine to generate electricity.

Wanna enlighten the gang about the difference between PWR's BWR's light and heavy water reactors as well, megna?

I've done two out of three.
