New Pegasus War of the Worlds kit
Posted by PontiacRich on Friday, May 29, 2009 9:03 PM

Has anyone built this kit?

Saw a review in the last IPMS magazine that said it was a good kit.  Unfortunately it was a very short review and I'm looking for more info!

Thanks!! Big Smile [:D]

It's a fabulous kit.  Everything fits together perfectly.  The quality of the plastic and the molds is very high.  The subject matter is pretty simple, so it's not a complicated kit.  But VERY high quality.

I'm definately going to keep an eye out for Pegasus's other kits.

Jodet -

Thanks for the input!

Does the kit come already "chromed" in copper or is it regular styrene that needs to be painted?  How about the "clear" parts, are they green?  If not, what colors best fit the look of the movie models?

Thanks again for the input!

Looks like it is molded in Styrene, and will have to be painted.

Irish - Thanks for the input...I'll be checking out that review!

Just got the July FSM and found out that they reviewed it as well.

Although the FSM review isn't as glowing - regarding fit issues - as the IPMS review.

The pre-built one comes copper plated, the kit one comes in an off white styrene. The clear parts are colored red clear, green clear and clear plastic. I found a resin "eye" on eBay that I bought for mine. This is the eye-type probe that extends from the belly of the hull to peek into the basement during the movie. It cost $5 and included a resin eye and a wire tentacle(?) that will make my ship look just a little bit different.

Rob -

Would you be willing to tell me exactly where you purchased the electronic eye on ebay?

PM me if you wish.

Thanks,
