Thanks for the compliment Bud.
Here's a few more pics:
Regarding the stand, I was forced to redo it after it fell over and the two plastic mounting pins broke off inside the ship ! So, after much gnashing of teeth, I decided the stand as is just didn't cut it. Taking my pinvise, I drilled out the two holes in the ship but made them perpendicular to the horizon line rather than at an angle like before. Then I filed and sanded off the top of the stand so it was almost flat and drilled two holes in the neck corresponding to the holes in the underside of the ship; I then inserted two short lengths of 1/32" round brass rod but didn't glue them into the stand at first in case I needed to do more on the neck to make the ship level. After much test fitting, I ended up with a slight upward slant in the back to match the taper of the secondary hull. Once I was satisfied the ship was level, I glued the pins into the neck of the stand and filed the tips of the pins to round them off so they wouldn't scratch the ship upon insertion. The bottom of the stand was placed on a piece of .040 styrene sheet and an outline was drawn around the outside edge with pencil. I cut it out and glued it to the bottom of the stand. This gave me a nice flat surface to glue to the wooden base. After it dried, I puttied and sanded the edge so no seam was visible and painted the stand black followed by 2-3 coats of Testors red burgundy enamel from a spray can. I also applied one of the Imperial insignias to each side of the neck and sealed with Future acrylic. After that dried, a coat of semi-gloss satin clear enamel was sprayed onto the stand. I had a scrap piece of wood- pine I think-which I sanded to a rounded edge fore and aft before attaching the base of the stand with epoxy, then I stained the stand with dark oak stain and sealed with a couple coats of clear varnish. I really liked how it turned out.
