Trust me, even gag entries take a wee bit of planning and work.  These 2 ships were protest statements to Wonderfest 2009's DiscoPrise:

I'm guessing it would be unkind of me to point out that this year's WF was a very good one. Big Smile

The contest was especially good - with the exception of a couple of gag entries, there wasn't a bad model in the bunch. Time was, you'd get a few excellent models, a lot of average ones, and one or two clunkers (a few of my own have fallen into this category). This year they were all really good. I blame the internet.

You did the right thing though - family does come first. Maybe we can try to make it up to you next year. Toast

Yeah I met Jeffery at WF 2005, a great guy. I believe we chatted about some Terran Trade Authority books you had with you. Blappy was also a great guy to talk to. Man how I wish I could have made an appearance.

Woody, it just shows that you have your priorities straight - family FIRST, hanging out with middle-aged guys who still build plastic spaceships Second. Cool

Griff's just a big 'ol cigar-smoking teddybear, he doesn't scare people off.  And with everything that goes on at a Wonderfest, it can be hard to connect with people and just chat.  Marc King & I have been trying to do just that at the past 2 Wonderfests!

I hadn't really said anything to anyone because missing WF is a pretty sore spot with me. If our annual Disney World trip hadn't been the following week I would have tried to come anyway. After the lose of that much cash I couldn't swing both trips and I really didn't want to disappoint my kids.

Wow!!!  I just thought you were avoiding me or maybe Griff scared you off.  Really sorry about the family issues and hope you will be able to go next year!

I've looked at everything everyone posted and it looked like a fun time. I'll try again next year I guess.

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles, Woody.

I was wondering why no loud Hawaiian shirts poked me in the eye while I was there.

Well I missed another WF. Bang Head I had every intention of going but a close family member stole a couple grand from me so I wasn't able to attend. Censored I hope she enjoys her ill gotten gains.

Woody,

Glad the family will be coming, since you didn't go last year, the only heads up I can give you is that the Pool Party has morphed.  We no longer meet at the Pool and I would dare to say the new format is not as family friendly.  That is not say that the Pool Party has finished morphing, last year a lot of things were settling into the new spaces at WF, so it's possible we could see a return to something more family friendly...

I will be running the Make-N-Take on Sunday, so make sure to bring Chris in on Sunday and we'll get him all hooked up...  My Chris has been doing some models but really more in the area of Costumes, so I don't know what, if any, he will bring.  I will have one item for sure and possibly a second....

Looking forward to seeing you!

I will be there and so will my Friend Jay. It will make the 7th Wonderfest for myself and either the 11th or 12th for him.

I'd like to go seeing as it is only 3 counties and a river crossing, put I don't drive and Ma doesn't do city/interstate driving. We go to the Sharonville show without using the interstate east of the Harrison/New Haven exit. That being said, if I can come up with a route using state roads and little in city driving I do believe she can be pursuaded. If we hit Indiana 62 West in Madison, it'll take us toward Clarksville. The question is where to cross the river and the best line of attack to the target. Any ideas??

Make sure you keep checking the WF page. When they update it they will list activates, model building classes, and guests.

I am just getting back into modeling

Was wondering what Wonderfest is and where and when

Got to tell you all there is some amazing work being done here

Makes me wonder how I will ever build something up to the standards I see here

Yeah, that was probably me. It was a run from the RPF. I have some pretty loud shirts I picked up in the Carribean in '05! Might wear one of those next year. I was there to put my model in and spent the afternoon there. I then came back to pick it up Sunday. I will definately look up people next year though.

... plus, once you meet someone who's an established person at one of the forums - such as Starship Modeler where I know you also post - you can get directions to my suite.

Y'know, what, tho...?  I think I saw you, as I recall someone wearin' a t-shirt somewhat like that this year.  Sad [:(]

Maybe we can finally meet this year...?

Would love to meet people. I just have a problem going up to someone and saying "Hi, I'm robiwon/directorcass on the forums, do I know you"? Haha. Kinda shy that way. I'll try and be more outgoing next year. With this year being my first, I was a little nervous and overwhelmed! I think the only people I really talked to were the ones who commented on my shirt, "What the H*ll is an Aluminum Falcon"? LOL.

That's great! You and Chris always have the coolest models. Love that Flying Sub!

Christopher is excited to be going again too. He had a blast last time.

My wife and daughter are also coming, De really enjoyed herself last time.

It will be great to hang out at Wonderfest again. Party [party]

I may make it in 2010, but haven't made more solid plans til 2011.  I promised my son one more trip to another con in Columbus, OH that's around the same time ( The one that ticked me off last year ).

On the bright side, that'll mean more time to get something together for 2011.  Maybe some of these Hasegawa Valkyries or the modified Queadlunns I have in mind for a start...

When I went in 2005 I had a blast meeting people from the forums I'm a member of.
