The main parts of the kit are flat coated and work on the weapons continues...

A small amount of detail is added to the rear skirt mounted SMG with a magnet in the middle for attachment.

After the flat coat, pastels are applied to the surface then finally flat coated to complete the the main kit.  I still have another weeks worth of work to finish up the weapons, but the kit is coming along.

Progress for the sniper contiunes, panel lines and the first bits of weathering.

Panel line work, wash applied, then cleaned off after a day of dry time:

That's looking good. I like the camo. Sometimes camo doesn't look good on a mech - it can obscure all the small details and shapes - but this looks real good.

Thanks for posting it. I don't build many gundams, but I do enjoy watching others do so. Cool [8D]

Is that one of the Bclub AM conversation kits for the head?

No, the sniper conversion is from akocreation.  It's a plastic conversion kit set.

How did you get that paint camo, everytime I try the squares come out WAY to thick.

I used very thin strips of masking tape (2mm, 1.5mm, and 6mm for large areas) and cut the tape into squares according to the size of the tape used.  Here are some progress pictures from the masking sessions:

The masking process took a very long time to do.  I spent two days (8-10 hours) each masking and painting.  It is a very tedious process; but to get the fine square edges in such a random fashion, it just comes down to time and patience in masking.

Mid-weekend sneak peak...

The rifle primed. I'd say it looks a little more like a rifle now with the primer showing the entire thing in a single color.

Full weapons load

Yeah, that's a lit beam saber....

For those curious about said lit beam saber:

This is a kit I've been working on for the past few weeks: http://gamerabaenre.com/?p=919

Yeah, the paint scheme will take some getting used to... Whistling [:-^]  I'm still trying to get used to it too... but oh well, all in the name of experimentation!
