Decals for FM 1/72 TIE fighter
Posted by batai37 on Friday, December 11, 2009 9:32 PM

Greets,

Does anyone know if it's possible to order replacement decals for Finemolds models? Their site of course is in Japanese (but strangely "view cart" is in english), and I haven't found an english version so I can't tell if there is a link for requesting replacement parts. Specifically I need to replace a decal for the cockpit interior wall for the 1/72 TIE fighter that I screwed up. Or if someone has an extra they would be willing to part with, I'd be in their debt. TIA!

Thanks, I was able to translate the page via Google also and sent email to several of those addresses.

In case you never replace the decals, don't refrain from building the kit.Once you button up a TIE cockpit, all the interior detail becomes just about impossible to see.

Yeah I wondered about that...the decal is #1 of 4 for the left semi-circular side panel and I don't think it would be in any way clearly visible because of it's curved shape.

I misread the post.I thought you needed all of them.Just black out the section where the decal would be.No one will ever notice.

Unfortunately I'm kind of a perfectionist, and I also like experimenting with new techniques...so I picked up some decal paper and scanned the decal sheet with the remaining panel decals (which are virtually identical). I've never done my own decals before, so I'm going to print off these and I'll let you know how they come out. I figure it would be kind of useful to have some decal paper on hand, for those times when I want to replicate kit decals.
