Hi All,
It's been a long while since I've done some Star Trek, but I have a client who wanted this for his collection. I though since this is a particularly hard model to do (God Bless AZTEC), I do a photo journal for other modelers. Should have this wrapped up in abotu a week , been at it about 3 days already, (had to wait for the paint to dry :(
Enjoy

Comment ALWAYS welcome,

That's pretty cool, Big Jake. Very precise and symmetrical. I would not have thought that such a strong contrast between colors would have looked right, but it definitely does.
Did you use pre-cut masks, or did you make your own?
I'm a big fan of metallic finishes myself. What kind of paints did you use?
Any chance of you posting a WIP hereabouts?
I used the pre-cut patterns from AZTEC Dummy. Base coat was Testor's Titanium Metalizer with a sealer. After it dried for 24 hours (I know I could have sooner but why rush) Then I put the transfers on using some extras provided to gice some areas to different sections. I them sprayed Testor's Aluminum Metalizer, again with the sealer, wait 24, them peel off.
I decided to use flat black for the torp tubes and airlocks pieces with a dry brush of Testor;s Chrome Silver. The gold looking pieces are actually Testors Metalizer Brass, the antenna dish is Testors Metalizer burn iron.
I forgot to add I'll try to write something up on it.
Great job capturing the look of the ship seen on the screen - I don't know if it were a real model or CGI but you nailed it!

Thanks Dude nice compliment.
I'm trying to figure out the lighting seq. now. I bought this kit Chinese Basta*rds do not have any instructions with the kit. MIM are no help either as thay have never been asked that question, go figure. You;d think they would have at least tried it out before selling, becasue they get the blame if it makes' modelers unhappy ?

I can figure out Port from Starboard but a touch of help on how the nacells light are used woud have been nice.
The issue seems to be whether or not I have to still use the "Kit" supplied clear \ nacell "Hydrogen collectors" (don't ask where I learned that from, why too many hours spent watching) . I'm going to try and dry fit the parts tonight.
I'm going to try and post a few pitures directly, here goes

well that did not work, I read the tut. but it's not much help? I have the pictures in my CUP and also on Webshots, is there a simpple and easy wat to post a pictures so folks won't need to click a link?
Thats a nice bit of work there. I see you're having better luck with your masking than I did!
Here's mine: http://home.myfairpoint.net/johndavidcook/id1.html
Its all lit up with LEDs and fiber optics and such, so the effect is nice. I just wish I'd had some more time to handle all the big details. I wasnt used to such a big subject so I slipped on the details and it could have been better. Still, I got a few good comments.
