Thanks for the assistance

Just want to clarify the yellow colour, you mention Desert Yellow (XF-59) at the top but call out Dark Yellow (XF-60) at the bottom?

Thanks

Personally, I use Dark Yellow (XF-60), but use whatever more closely matches the color used by the Afrika Corps.

Klik

Thanks. These pics are some of the ones I found in the directions I was talking about, in the 1/144th kit by HG and Bandai, MS-06 Zaku The Ground War Set, which comes with two Type 61 5+, shown in the directions to be a grey that matches the IJN Gray.

Sorry. Those pictures I had mentioned, well I scanned them, and I can't figure out how to post them.

As far as color, They like to keep with alot of WWII schemes when not using the bright reds and blues and yellows of the original anime colors.

For the tank, I would keep it to whatever area you meant it to be in.  what I mean is, paint it like you would any tank, if you want it to look like it does in the series tho, I would go with the colors you would use for Israeli armor

sorry to prove you wrong, but they play a huge part in the fairly recent set of mini series, MS Gundam: IGLOO

which focuses on the early parts of the one year war, specifically from the first real implimentation of Mobile suits in combat up to the First Gundam sightings, as far as I remember.  So there is alot of emphasis of the EFGF infantry and armor.

I recently purchased another model that came with a 1/144 Type 61 5+, and the instructions showed more of a Imperial Japanese Navy Gray (Kure arsenal) XF-75 color. The tank also comes in a Desert Yellow, the same color that the Germans used in Africa in WW2. The only time I've seen this tank in Gundam is in 8th M.S. team (in the opening credits)-and there it appears to be a Gray in between IJN Gray (aforementioned), and Sky Grey.

The tank (as far as I know) makes no major appearance in Gundam, and keep in mind: it is Scifi-make it how you like.

But if you want to go with the colors shown, use:

IJN Gray (Kure arsenal) Tamiya XF-75 or

Dark Yellow Tamiya XF-60

It looks good either way.

Bandai EFGF Type61 - Tamiya Colour Match?
Posted by osjohnm on Friday, February 5, 2010 2:21 AM

Hi all

I'm an armour builder but since this tank is available in 1/35 I couldn't resist.

http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10081018

I'm trying to determine which Tamiya colours are the closest match to the instructions?

All the colours are called out in Japanese and my Japanese is non-existent.

The primary option seems to be along the lines of Buff, Dark Yellow, Desert Yellow or even Deck Tan in the Tamiya range?

There is second option which is 65% FS36320 - Dark Ghost Grey and 35% something else.
Tamiya don't have a Dark Ghost grey option unfortunately.

Any suggestions or opinions will be appreciated.

Thanks
