Samsara Vehicle....Paper and Plastic !
Posted by Barry C Hark on Friday, February 12, 2010 3:53 PM

Hello All,

Now I know Building Paper Models is Not everybodys cup of tea, But bear with me on this one because there is more to this one than you thinkSurprise

I also like Building paper models but when I found this one on the Web I could see some potential in this one. its called the SAMSARA.

And can be Found on this site and they are free to Download !   www.toposolitario.com

Due to the fact that it builds up into a very Angular model with lots of Facets. and could be made to look more realistic with a bit more work. adding a Chassis scratch built from Styren Strips and Adding some Wheels form a toy Car Changed the model from a simple Card model into a more detailed model but with not that much more work.

and it was an easy build making it fun and fast.....only took a few days to throw it together and I like the way it came out.

First of all I printed out the Plans then cut them out and Spray Mounted (spray glue) them to 250 GSM thickness card. and proceeded to score and cut them out.............

With the Cab and Body now completed I dived into My spares box and dug out some toy car wheels and used the Hubs from the card wheels and Applied them to the Toy wheels.

Now for the chassis, using strip styrene Icut and shaped the parts I wanted and atthahed them to the underneath of the card body with Super Glue,

which work s very well when putting the card model together as well ! instant and strong Bond !

Once I had built the model and made some Minor Modifacations to the Front end, and some light Weathering and touch up in some areas.

I photographed the model on a Diorama base and then put each of the photos into PHOTOSHOP to give them a little Tweak !

a bit of extra light, soften the Photo a bit and add some light flare to the head lights.

All in all a nice little model to build and photograph and it didnt turn out to bad.

Im looking forward to building another one soon with a lot more Detail.

All the best

Barry.

HaHa!

Quite the outcome from a humble start! Your chassis and wheel work really made this and in the end I wouldn't have guessed it started as a paper model.

Great job!Yes

Cheers Squid Big Smile

yea that was kind of the idea for using this particular card model, with it being so Angular it lends itself to having more detail applied to the model to make it a bit more realistic, in a fun kind of way !

it almost has that Thunderbirds/TerrorHawks look to it.

Im going to start another one soon and I may even Photocopy the parts from A4 and enlarge them to A3. Effectivly increasing the size of the model by 50%.

Back onto thicker card and then super detail it, could even build the Cockpit Inside the Cab,

I reckon it will come close to 1/35 in scale and so would benifit from all that available Detail.

All the best,

Barry.
