Thanks Dan.  I used some copper color on the inside of the dish and for the remainder, gun steel.  Looks pretty good.  Hopefully, I have some pics of the finished ship which I am doing as the USS Yorktown this weekend.

From my experience you could either paint it black behind the dish and copper on the inside, or most commonly with copper on the inside of the dish and a slightly darker copper on the outside. For the small antenna in the middle of the dish, it should be a gray color (same as the ship). Let me know if this helps but for the most part its personal preference.

Sensor Array Color on NCC-1701
Posted by rodc on Saturday, March 13, 2010 7:01 PM

I've looked all over the net for the sensor array color for the original USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) without luck.  I have seen the array vary from an iridescent blue, to a copper color to a rust brown color.  Many of the pictures I found are not great.

I have the old AMT kit in 1/650.  Anyone have any color advice?
