Enterprise E in 1/650th

Received an SR Enterprise E to build complete with the kit's PE and recommended electronics. This should be a fun one and will hopefully come to represent the handsome ship which the Sovereign Replicas model can build into.

A very fast mockup of the components shows it will be around 42" tip to tail.

Wow, big and beautiful!  Are you going to try and light her?  I look forward to seeing this come together!

I'm pretty sure there is an unwritten rule somewhere that THIS model must be lit!Wink

To that end the specific components for the 'special effects' are already procured.

Very nice!  I have been wrestling with ordering one of Soverign Replica's kits for a while now.  I have no idea how expensive they are, but based on the quality, I am guessing a pretty penny!

Good luck!

Some of the SR lineup is here:

http://www.starshipmodeler.biz/shop/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_ID=197

And you can contact SR at:

http://www.sovereignreplicas.com/

FWIW:

Some of the kits are only released for so long and then others have risen in cost and value over time so like many things- try to get what you want while it's available.Wink

This one, the Ent-E, is arguably the flagship of the SR offerings and I consider myself fortunate to have it on my bench even if only through the build process.Cool

Thanks for the link and info.  That's a bit out of my pricce range for now!  I was actually looking at his webpage, and hoping to find a type 9 shuttle.  Looks like he did a bang up job on that as well!

Good luck with your build, I'll be watching!

^^^^

Thank you Chris and here's hoping you do obtain whichever SR model you eventually desire!

Doing some preplanning on the lighting I used some very bright blue mini surface mount LEDs arranged in a row and then experimented with either clear tinted ("smoke") or some opaque "filters" at twelve volts and they were all too bright. I then switched to nine volts and also varied how close they were near the top. Some were taken with the lights at "mid nacelle" height while IMHO the better effects were from having the lights down at the bottom of the nacelle. All pictures were taken in a 'well lit' room without flash as you might normally view a displayed model.
Just goes to show how effective the fiberglas model is at passing light and how I will need to fine tune using the same LEDs to best effect.
