Great looking ship! I need to get a few of those for myself. The kit bashing options seem endless.
I agree that it would be a challenge to light but not impossible. I would just replace the stand provided and do soemthing with brass tubing and a base that would allow me to bury a battery in like one of these I found at Michaels for a buck...
Thanks a bunch for your response!
It's a bit too tough to light up (seeing as there's no real spot for the battery on the base or anything)
For any of the clear parts, but the officers lounge, I painted the inside of the clear part with Tamiya Transparent paint either Red or Blue. I did this in layers until I got the desired depth of color. In some cases you actually have to pour the stuff and let it sit.....
Hey, I'm not sure if I'm committing thread necromancy, but I've got this model and I was wondering how you got the blue colour on the deflector and engines and such. As it is clear initially, what did you do to it?
midnightprowler Actually I was wondering how it compares to their USS Enterprise, NCC-1701 1/ 1000 TOS kit, not the 1/350 A kit. LOL

Oops, sorry! I think it's better and worse. It's engineered better than TOS especailly where the nacelles meet the supports, no rolling to snap, but it can be a little tight snapping together.
Worse, I don't like what they did with the obersvation lounge or the docking ring on the back of the bridge, but other than that, I thought it was great...

Hey beautiful model of my favorite Enterprise!
I wouldn't have thought an aztec pattern on decals would work out that well but it looks great!

I used the kit provided decals for the aztecing, three sheets of them, my eyes have just about gotten back to normal...
Comparing the 1/350 with the 1/1000, it's a good representation but I was dissatisfied with a couple of things, mostly around the bridge, The docking ring on the back of the bridge is a decal, which probably shows it off better but I'd rather have the detail. The other area is the lounge where they have you just slide a clear plastic block, that looks bad and I think on other ones I'd build I'll just fill it all. Outside of that the engineering was fantastic, and the decals laid down nicely. Take your time and pay attention when decaling the nacelles as they can be confusing.
Beautiful work! Did you paint the aztec pattern? How does she compare to PL's original Enterprise?
Well she didn't take long to build but I have to say I am impressed with the kit. She came together really well and the decals were not as bad/difficult as I had imagined them to be.
Enjoy!
