FINISHED Finally NX-01 Enterprise
Posted by Big Jake on Friday, April 23, 2010 9:44 AM

Just finished the build tonight, glad it's over it been a long 4 months. Client is more than happy, although I'd like a better video, using a small hand held camera.

The model is the 1/350th scale NX-01 Enterprise from the last show. The painting consisted of a two base coats using Testors Model Master Metalizer Paints. The darker color id Titanium and the light color is Aluminum. The “aztec” patern was put on using a masking template, real PITA to get just right.

The lights are a modified kit that needed to be repairs and re-worked. 90% of the tiny “decals” were drawn on using sharpie markers. Power supply is a 4.6v 300ma adaptor. Scotty would be proud.

Wow, looks great! I can imagine the aztec pattern was a PITA indeed but the results were worth it.

Only question is did the NX have the spinning lights in the fronts of the warp nacelles? It's been forever since I've seen Enterprise though.

Really sharp job!

To answer your question, Yes and No, the lights on TV are more difused and the lights that were made for the kit are spinners.  There was not a whole lot I could do with them, I tried to difuse with some cotten but the effect was too dim and the heat might have made the cotton have issues.

Ok, wasn't trying to nit-pick. It just looked odd to me.

Still, beautiful model! Contest quality for sure! Yes
