Auroa Dick Tracy mod Rorschach
Posted by smeagol the vile on Friday, April 30, 2010 9:00 PM

So I have had this Dick Tracy kit for a while.  I got the base built and started on Tracy but couldnt handle the yellow, way to frustrating.

I had a stroke of genius the other day and grabbed an old sock (keep your minds out of the gutter)  I used a razor blade to slice it (sliced easily) I measured the head, cut it short so it would stretch tightly, then I super glued the sock over the head and then slided it in the back so it would sit flat but be superglued together.  I then used some black paint to die it like a Rorschach ink blot and stretched it over the Dick tracy head.

then I got the miliput out and sculpted dick tracy's coat into a short trench coat like Rorschach wears.  So guys, tell me what you think so far.

Also, protip, dont search google for Aurora Dick Tracy, you wont get pics of the kit...

Can't wait to see this one when you're done!

And here I thought I was clever for finally finding a use for the podracer kit I abandoned years ago.

I know whaat you mean about the yellow.  It's one of the colors I avoid or use in spray form whenever possible, along with red and white.

Fine job, Smeag, but who is the character supposed to be? I don't know who Rorschach is, an alter ego of *** Tracy?

Sub, Rorschach is a character from a series called 'The Watchmen'. He gets his name from the hood he wears, its a constand changing Rorschach test pattern.

Thanks alot.  Its hard to get people to comment on my builds...

As far as the Character, is a lot closer to vigilante then super hero, without the mask hes more or less a disheveled homeless man.  As far as when costumed goes after trying to find down a kidnapper of a little girl and finding her, dead, and being eaten by the man's dogs he sort of snapped and turned to outright killing the criminals he apprehends and has very Id say pure views of justice though convoluted.  He is the main character of the comic series and the movie

Yes, especially since D!CK is a both a real name AND slang for "Detective". Ask a pom for a "spotted D i C k" he shouldn't be offended. just be glad you don't live in Essex... oh, dear.

Very well done!  I like the dynamic pose.  Was the original fig like that, or did yo have to modify it?  I am especially impressed with the street and fire escape.  Were those part of a kit, or did you make it yourself?

Thanks for the compliments.  The kit came with those things, I did a quick google search and found someone else who had built it without mods

you can see, if you look that the window is open still on the original kit, I put a backing on it, also there are pegs holding D ick onto the wall that I removed and filled in.

That's pretty cool. Excellent idea, well done. If I ever get a D. Tracy kit, I'm totally gonna steal your idea. Cool

Great idea and great build. IMHO Rorschach is way cooler than D. Tracy.

I like the pose and the overall look but the gun lacks depth. Maybe a wash could do it.

I just watched that movie over the weekend. I was wondering about his name, must have missed that reference. You could also do one of him at the end, snow and a bloody smud with a hat.

Rorschach was the name of the psychologist that Created the self names Rorschach tests, or as laymen call them, ink blot tests.

His mask changes with his emotional state to form different ink blot patterns
