You may also need to build the engines over a tube frame such as styrene tube or even a rolled paper tube to help support it while it dries.

I used blue Jack in the Box straws (the blue was new then, and THICK) inside my engines. that was about as far as I got as the finish on the pod drove me away...now I woldnt think anything of it.

well started on the kit. for some reason the engines are in four semi circular sections. nightmare to build and  i'm left with horrid seams all along them. got a ton of clean up to do i think. going to add some spretched sprue and strip styrene to try and cover some of the worst bits. think i'll paint the markings as suggested, then i can wear and distress the paint. going to busy up the cockpit a bit as well. only problem i have discovered is that the windscreen is missing, but i'll work my way round that as i get to it.

i started one but never finished. dont use the kit decajs just paint the markings on instead.

for the engines, they look like well worn J79s. I use a ton of eye makeup on my engines now, over a flat or semigloss base of steel or aluminum washed with blue.

I would also replace both bridles with wrapped coiled wire. There is a bead jewelry making tool called a Coiling Gizmo that makes super fine super tight coils as long as you want. Makes your modling life easier!!

hi guys, has anyone built and got photos of the amt kit? just dug mine out and i'm thinking of lighting it and doing tons of detail but the painting instructions for the engines are a bit vague and the you dont seem to see too much in the film. any help and info would be cool. i'll try and post pics as i go on.
