Even a cheap digital camera should be able to take a decent shot. Here are a few tips.
#1 See if your camera has a macro setting. On more basic cameras, it'll be a flower symbol.
#2 Put a light on each side of the subject, diffuse it through a piece of white tissue (like the stuff people put in gift bags.)
#3 Set the camera on something, get it in focus, set the timer! This way you won't have any hand-shake affecting the focus.
#4 Don't get too close. Most cameras can't focus inside of 2 feet. Better to stay back a bit and zoom in, or just crop and enlarge the image when uploading it.
