Both of you guys are correct. Ar 695- I think that's a Honda color. That code sounds familiar. Electron blue pearl is a dark irredescent blue colour, does this sound like what you're looking for? OEM - Original Equipment Manufacturer. Code 55 is a bright white, I think. This sounds like a Chevy colour code. The way it works is like this: Each paint manufacturer has a two, three, or four letter designation before the numbers in a paint code. This is so that it can be indexed for precise matching by computer. Each of these codes represents a number of pigments required to match the colour spectrum of a given shade, whether it's metallic, semi-metallic, or opaque. A code is given to each number the car manufacturer uses for a certain vehicle. This makes it easier to reference it when more of the same shade is needed.  "Paint jobbers" as they're called in the industry, need to know what the paint code is to match a colour in any medium. The paint code can be found in the trunk on the sticker, or on the doghouse reinforcement of a car, truck, or van. All the paint store needs is the code of the colour you need mixed.  If you have a code, most places should have a book with colour coded chips so you can see what it looks like. I hope this helps you to understand this a little better.

Maybe a picture of a squirrel playing a harmonica will make you feel better?

ZIrcon Blue is use by various manufacturers - it is a pretty generic name, the OEM code you have quoted is so ambiguous that you can guarantee it will have been used by several manufacturers.

If you have no idea of what manufacturer or year the color is from, but you do know what the color looks like (?) you could try & get a bodyshop or paint supplier to let you have a look at their PPG chip books / fans - but it may take some amount of looking to identify - Dependant on how up to date & how far back their chip collection goes.

You could also try contacting PPG's automotive refinishing department, I couldn't find a number, but there email is autorefinish@ppg.com - if you get no luck that way, dig up some numbers for PPG refinishing & phone around the houses, as someone somewhere will be able to give you the correct information.

I spent about 10 years using chip libraries for identifying & mixing PPG automotive paints - so I don't really envy your position!!

I believe it's Zircon Blue.

Looking at Google it seems to be quite a few different shades of blue ranging from light to dark depending on the maker and the type of vehicle it is used on.

The code you have should help identifying the correct one.

This site has some color charts at the bottom of the page that may help you.

I need to find out where I can get Zicron Blue paint.  I tried a body shop but the codes I was provided proved practically useless.  I need a location that sells teh paint off the shelf or can identify what type of car it would be used on for his computer to identify it.

If this doesn't work I guess I can take a picture of it to Home Depot and see if they can mix some up.

The info I had was:  ppg code ar695

                                    OEm code 55

I don't even know what these codes represent.
