it is 1/1000 scale.  I started the ship about one year ago.  I had to put it down from time to time, that's the reason for the long build.  this is my first scratch build, only the engines came from a kit, and only half of them,  if you will note.  I was not happy with the secondary hull, so I trashed it and started again.

once I got something I liked I painted it with a can of flat gray primer, from walmart..  once I had it covered,  I started to mess around with the detailing  a month or so of that,  I started to seal it.  then I started to look thru my dozen polar lights kits for decals.

Not finding what I wanted, and not knowing what I really wanted,  went on line and started to look for additional decals.   I finally decided to order from my supplier( federation models) but they gave me a rash of poop,  so I went with Starship modeler.

I got my decals Monday of last week, but I didn't have the name till Wednesday night, after watching a piece on john f Kennedy.  he was killed in 1963, which is where I got the ncc number.   a few touch ups,  and some work to make the pictures better,  and another ship on the shelf
