Yukikaze Super Sylph
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, January 11, 2004 12:03 PM
I just finished the Yukikaze Super Sylph. This is the Version 1.5 from Bandai. I wish I had it in 1/72 scale, but unfortunately this is the 1/100 version (Platz makes the 1/72 scale). I enjoyed this aircraft very much. I used Tamiya paints and all the decals. The decals went on fairly smooth, but in hindsight I should have painted all the white parts on the wings.

I think it turned out pretty good. I had problems with those light blue decals going down the back. I tried a oil wash for the weathering details.
I used some of the Alclad metalizer paints for the shiny parts (underside radar and the exhaust on the rear). I mixed sky gray and rlm grey to get the color for the underside; and dark gray and rlm gray for the top. Overall I am pleased, but the colors are definitely not the colors on the cover of the box. What do you think... do you like mine instead? I'd love any feed back

Well I think it looks great. I wouldn't worry too much about the color, it's just from an anime, not from real life, so you get to decide, not them.

Looks good. What show is this from. It kind of resembles the YF-21 from Macross Plus.

Hey My_name_1s_MUD

I saw your post over at macrossworld and i really like you Super Sylph. I have one question where did you get the kit at? I think i would like to build this even though i have never seen the anime ot at least not yet. Anyway i was also looking for a hasegawa macross zero f-14 if you know where to get of those also it would be great.

You can try Hobby Link Japan or Rainbow 10 for the Bandai & Platz kits, the kit above is one of 3 designs
that have been released so far from that series.

Those sites might also still carry stock of the macross Kits, they were reissued not too long ago and are
hogging(not selling) the shelfs over here, shops can't even move them at Yen 900.

While most of the shops over have their own web-sites they will only accept customers from within Japan, you NEED japanese to deal with them.

So again best source for macross F-14's will Rainbow 10 or HLJ, or maybe one of the importers/online shops overseas.

BTW, personally I prefer the Mave Yukikaze over the Sylph.

I think HLJ.com is your best bet. I actually got this kit before I saw Episodes 1 and 2 of the Anime. Frankly the anime's plot is somewhat lacking... BUT THESE AIRCRAFT ARE JUST WAAAAY TOO COOL. I also bought the Mave kit, which looks very nice. Check out the link below for some pics of the Mave kit:

Looks Great. As for the colors. Do you have a real one to compare to?

I didn't think so, creative license is permitted.

Wow, very interesting AC. Good job. Kind of looks like a Sukhoi from the rear quarter view.

Hi,
You acn try this site in Singapore for the Macross model kits. They have a pretty comprehensive range for the Hasegawa kits.

http://storm.webvis.net/stormdomain.html

The models in stock is listed in their forum. That's how the shopowner updates his clients. Alternatively, drop him an email and he'll check for you with the price (in SG$). He's selling the VF-0A and the Sukhoi for SD$22.

Don't know the site, but I would check vfgcvcthe kits very careful.

According to a friend of mine that lives in Singapore there are a LOT of pirate copies there. Always double and triple check when ordering from a shop in Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong and China.

And, yes, they even do rip-offs of Bandai and similar kits, seen Gundam Seed kits where the box was 98% identical to the original boxes.

Oops. Shld read SG$55 instead of SD$22.

Yes, Bandai kits are ripped. With the logo (the red box) stating MG/HG instead of Bandai in the original. But original kits boxes and the pirated differs greatly in the quality. And usually to avoid legal issues, they don't have the brand name.

And I agree, check with them carefully of the authenticity of the product.
