it's certainly an oddball kit and will make the most of a good paint job.

Pretty awesome, good to see you're still working on him (it?).

I've got one in my stash somewhere, looking forward to picking up some tips from you.

Nice to see that you got back into the swing of things.  Looks really good so far, keep it up!

I have great weather today so I will be doing a fair amount of painting while it holds.  Temperature is coming up as well which is going to help a LOT.

We had one of these at our last contest in Orlando.  It came out looking pretty good.

The other book was "To Serve Man".

I finally got back into modeling and put costuming aside for a couple of weekends.  I layed on a India ink wash last weekend and that has dried 7 days , wiping most of it off the next morning with 91% alcohol. That left a bit of a sticky situation , hence the dry time. The colors are too stark and need to be softened. I will be using a deepened orange filter to bring the colors back in line, then a tan filter to tone it down.

Cadet Chuck

you are correct, your opionion.

And it shall not longer be needed here, since you have nothing of interest nor viable input on this build.

well there's a helpful comment... Smile Dots

But I do agree that the design of the alien for that movie was lame. How cheap can you get? Plaster bandages, chicken wire, etc... that how they did it. I believe the tripod is in a dio with 2 bulldog tanks? OR is that something different... whatever.

Sorry, I think it's an ugly and dumb model, but that's my opinion.  Different strokes for different folks- no offense intendend here, build it if you like it.

I too had seen word of the new tripod, but no longer see it. maybe there were issues with the kit?

I figure on this one its going to be a lot of filters and grey nerves.

Nice looking kit!  I heard that they were also making a tripod from the more recent movie but can't seem to find any info on it anywhere.  I am building one of thier snap kits as an ABC's club build and it does go together nicely and has pretty decent internal details al  things considered.  Good luck with the painting.

Pegaus Hobbies is an interesting company.  They have been around for several years now, but did not gain our interest until  a couple of years ago when they started to produce medium (by modern standards) quality, affordable (ten dollar range) airplane kits. For years they have produced hopper and low rider car parts....all those fancy wheels and funky lowrider characters to pose with their hopper lines...that often sat unwanted on the shelf....the same Pegasus Hobbies.

Now they have gained the licenses to WoTW and several other lines. Very imaginative and well thought-out products. From what I have seen at shows, there is a lot of interest in thier modern offerings.

Im going to the living room to sit down with the classic War of the Worlds. Primary research and all....

Looks like a interesting kit to paint up & light up with LED lights. Post some WIP's of your progress.

Other than 'War of the Worlds' I cannot guess the other book that is included. Pegasus is a company I noticed advertised in FSM and it looks like they specialize in science fiction characters from movies. Their vehicle from 'Lost in Space' earned excellent reviews, a good accomplishment considering how mush glass (clear plastic) was needed.

Pegasus War of the Worlds Martian with base

I have waited for this for a long, long time.  Kit is roughly five inches tall and quite heavy.

Im a big fan of BEM"s Corman and  B movies in general, so to have a nice, big hefty Martian fits my bill!

27 USD from a vendor at the recent show in Houma LA.  Vinyl cast cit (solid vinyl, not that floppy hollow vinyl that Geometric and Horizon used). The kit has two alternate arms for the "BRIGHT LIGHT, BRIGHT LIGHT" scene in the farmhouse.  Base is the farmhouse floor with wood planss, broken glass and bits of the ceiling. The seeker head is well defined and can be placed anywhere and BEGS for a led to be put in it. YES I KNOW the light went out when the power cord was cut, but still!

This one is begging to be finished on top of the others. molded in solid red vinyl it will be an easy paint up. Virtually no seams are visible. Pegasus gets high marks on this one!

Two books are included. Care to name them?
