It's been a rough year and I haven't had much enthusiasm to build lately. I sat down the other day and tried to motivate myself. Worked a bit on a couple of unfinished models, not doing very much.
I looked at my almost finished Stuka and decided I didn't want to finish it. Then my eyes fell on a little snap-tite SR-71 I threw together a couple of weeks ago (my friend Bud kept winning raffle prizes at a model show last month, he grew tired of picking prizes out of the pile and let me have one).
Inspiration struck and out came my Dremel and X-acto saw. Soon I had.....a mess:
A little more work and I had the major deconstruction complete, and most of the major pieces ready for re-assembly:
At this point, what I was trying to make started to congeal in my mind. A space ship of some kind. And then I thought of the science fiction universe my son created: The Star Nation of Wepernia. I decided I was making a craft from his universe, to honor his memory. I envisioned a long range scout of some kind, but with the very aggressive culture he created, I knew it had to have big guns. Thus was born the WSS Were Leiahwin, a Chasen class scout ship.
So, now I have the major assembly completed:
Next up is to start adding all kinds of doo-dads all over. I want to break up the symmetrical look I have right now. Antennas, sensors, that sort of stuff.
Thanks for looking.
