gee, can't wait for this beauty to be reissued.
[/sarcasm]
really, it's odd looking. But if they did reissue it...i'd probably buy it just to add to the collection.

That's a resin Space Base.

I guess we should refer to the famous detective as "Richard" Tracy.....

It would be the "*** Tracy Space Coupe" (http://modelingmadness.com/scotts/misc/scifi/scoupe.htm)

Justin Playfair Yeah...haven't seen it in a while,.. scratch that! Is that your Jetsons model, BGuy? It'd be cool to see the rest of it.

here's mine. I've had it since the first issue and it's been through 1 too many earthquakes falling at least twice. That explains the huge crack in the canopy. The figures are very well done and prepainted. Now I'm thinking of redoing the base as the one pictured above looks so cool.

either a shower nozzle with attitude, or something from 1930-40s *** Tracy comic pages
That would be a link to the original picture I posted, so...nope.
Is this what you are looking for?

Nope, not mine. Just a picture I found on the net for comparison. I forget where, now, but reviews of the Jetsons kit are out there for the curious.
You mean this? :
It kind of looks like the base to the Polar Lights Jetsons kit.
Wow, I'm impressed with your encyclopedic knowledge, but I image searched pictures of the actual pilgrim kit and compared the two moons--I don't think they're exactly the same thing. Pilgrim's moon is shorter and wider, I think, whereas the one I'm looking at is rounder and taller. Plus the original FSM posting said it was made from resin. I'll have to see if I can track the builder down.
On the Ninfinger site, there's a model from the 70's called the Pilgrim Observer, and that is the base for the spacecraft. It's on page 8 of the instructions PDF file:

Fortunately, the re-pop of the kit is due out in 2011:

Well, I have to say, that base in the pic really has anything I'd do beaten pretty roundly. Must have been made in the 'advanced' art class. With the vibrant colour and custom decals on the coupe, it makes, for my money, a really appealing display.
I think you could very easily make something better than the base in that photo, whether you chose to make a slice of a lunar globe, or a more representational lunar surface. That base looks more like something from art class. Not that it's not nice, but personally, I wouldn't use it.
Best regards,
Brad
PS--Log! Uh, huh-huh, huh-huh, huh-huh-huh! I thaid, "Log", that wath cool!

Yeah, I figured it was the nannybot, but thought I'd make a point about it. As for the base, the re-pop of the kit comes with a rather less cool looking flat-ish moon surface type base that came with the original Aurora kit. I've started looking around, but haven't found a site that sells bases like this at all.
I'm *starting* to consider making one myself, but I'm not sure I'm really up to the task of doing it well. Forming something like that by hand from modeling clay and maybe topping it off with some of that decorative 'flecking' spray paint (sold cheap at my corner dollar store) sounds like a good idea, but compared to the pic I re-posted, I'm thinking I'd like to see the aftermarket option, too.
It looks like half a *** from a ***'s *** to me.
Have you tried to contact the builder to see what he used?

I thought that was "Sticks and stones can break my bones, but chains and whips excite me". I mean so I've read...
Okay... back to work.
That's not a repop of the original base that came with the original Aurora kit. (Oh no, I said "came"--maybe the nannybot will censor that!). It's a later addition. Is that now by Polar Lights or Moebius?
BGuy [EDIT: I just noticed that the FSM website actually censored my original post because I used what I can only assume was an 'inappropriate' first name for a 1940's comic book character, even though the original picture and description was posted in FSM's gallery.]

Yeah, this is the nannybot that makes sure all us bad people use appropriate language. It's even funnier when you realize that they don't bleep "peter". What ever happened to "Sticks and stones can break my bones, but names can never hurt me"?
So long folks!
Very funny. :)
I'm asking if anybody recognizes what resin kit / base the moon is and/or where I can acquire one.
It looks like a representation of the moon to me!
Uhm... is that what you are asking?
Does anybody recognize the base in this picture?:
I've just acquired the *** tracy kit and would love to use a base like this.
