To take a break from building cars, I decided to have a little Sci-Fi fun. I'm using a Italeri LAV-25 Piranha that I'm building as a SHADO vehicle. I'm still adding decals and painting details. It's painted Dupli-Color Avignon Blue. My next 3 or 4 builds will all be SHADO related. A what if SHADO really existed, what would they use 30 years later using today's vehicles. The Piranha would be taking the place of the old mobile units. I'm still a big UFO fan. This is where I'm currently at and will post more pics when it's finished. Thanks for looking.
Very cool. Cant wait to see more !!!
Thanks! Decals are on and done, I'll blackwash just a few more areas and I'll dullcoat it.
interesting concept idea and model. What does SHADO mean?

Supreme Headquarters Alien Defence Organisation, from the 70's TV show UFO.
That certainly has the look off something from SHADO on UFO!

Thanks for the comments. I finished it up last night by shooting it with dullcoat. I had fun with this one trying to capture the flavor of the old show yet update their equipment. I wish our weather was better here so I could photograph it outside. Thanks for looking.
Looking hot! I'm going to U Toob that TV show today and check it out
you mentioned that you painting this with Dupli-Color. Is that a laquer system? Did you use the Dupli-Color primer first? I want to try this product paints on some future model car projects
Thanks, UFO was a really cool show. I never missed an episode as a kid. There's some complete episodes on U toob.
Dupli-Color, is a hot paint, it's Acrylic Lacquer, so you have to be careful when using it on styrene. You can use a primer if you wish and most guys will recommend it. I don't prime and didn't on this build. As long as each coat you lay is a mist coat, it won't attack the plastic. So its a mist, sand, repeat, till you're happy with the color, then clear it. Its a little more work without primer but it can be done.
ok, good info, Thanks
It's nice to see something different. You should post this in the Armor section as well.
Thanks for the comments. I would post it there, but it really belongs here, being based off a Sci-Fi show and not after real armor. It would be out of place.
