hi there newby here, building a future city

not sure if this is the proper place but hey here goes. i´ve been on the slot forums for a while and recieved lots of inspiration from those guys, but my stuff is going more and more model based and less car racing!, so i thought i´d try this forum that is well regarded !

i´ve done village catalan tracks (rural) and a mexican airfield/scrapyard, and now i´m doing the big one which is a city from the future, loosely based on london after the great flood of 2017!!. it is far from finished and i´m playing with lighting and smoke effects, its essencially one big diorama.its mostly made from cut up electronic equipment!

heres a link to the video

lets see if this works??, all comments welcome, and tips on where to go with the damn thing now....

I like 'em, sig!  I was gonna suggest you add some moving things, cars and such, but then i saw the rest of your vids!  I think I like your mexican airfield more. Smile

What's the name of the band you used in the London vid?

Welcome and very cool! Reminds me of some of the great miniature cities created by Toho for those great '60s Japanese SF and monster movies.

cheers folks for the welcome, yes the city is only about half done..its a big thing so the first phase is outlining the actual architecture and integrating the lighting etc.i´m just about getting to the fine detailing phase, where each building is aged and textured accordingly. next big job is turning the big metal dome into something more ressembling st pauls in london in some sort of abandoned state!...the trouble is its cold and not much fun in an unheated workshop for these things!!Huh?

heres a couple of stills of the city where you can get a bit more of an idea of whats going on

watchman, yes the mexican airfield is more finished (although still needs tweaking) and was fun for breaking up all the old plane kits.at the moment i´m also trying to graft is onto the older catalan village rally track, so give them both a bigger backdrop

one thing i´m learning is the whole concept of bending scale!. forced perspective etc. mexico is 1:43/48, the village is 1:32  and the city goes from 1:32 to about 1:140

heres a pic of the other 2 tracks

i´m looking forward to exploring this forum more, from what little i´ve seen in the diorama part there really is some amazing stuff,  plenty more stuff to learn, goody gum dropsBig Smile

oh and watchman by the way the soundtrack is from a download off dubterrain.net (with a couple of extra effects)

the dj here is saltfeend at the pdf pressure drop, some great stuff there if you like that kind of thing

cheers guys sig
